I really have to question Funimation's team in charge of translation when they can't even translate an English loan word back to English.

"Panties - Newton Pittman"

His nickname is Pants(Pantsu), because he lost his pants(pantsu). The anime shows his pants(pantsu) being blown away when hanging out to dry.
Saki and Michan buy him new pants(pantsu) when they are out shopping.
The translators are bad because they confuse and miss the context of panties(pantsu) vs pants(pantsu).

Pantsu is ONLY used in Japanese to refer to underwear (especially women's underwear). Period.

He's called pantsu because he's always only in pantsu. Underwear.

"Panties" is correct.

What is with people only knowing ecchi and slang words in Japanese.
The word pantsu is used in the context of pants. Most of the scenes somehow related to pants to the extent of Takizawa getting dubbed Jeansu by Pantsu.

Sorry but pantsu is used to refer to pants or panties depending on context. How you even say pantsu is not used for pants when it is evident in the episode when it refers to his pants being losts as pantsu and when Saki buys him a new pair of pantsu.

ArsenicSteel is correct. The Japanese use "pantsu" for trousers, they've adopted the American slang term. I hear it all the time from my Japanese teacher and her friends, and they certainly aren't referring to underwear.

Well, without taking sides in the whole pantsu/pants/panties debate, let me just go on record as saying having that character nick-named "Panties" is more giggle-worthy.

Uh, "pants" means "underwear" and can refer to female or male versions.

Clearly the nickname was intended to reference his _male_ underwear, which means a correct translation would be "Briefs" or "Underwear" and not "panties".

Calling him Panties is a really stupid choice if you ask me, and puts a very negative connotation on what is supposed to be a friendly nickname.

Perhaps my sarcasm remark was to caustic. I was trying to make a joke about this because the "I don't pay for anime" folks grasp at any excuse and this would be a funny one. I'm a smartass most of the time. I find it to be one of my more endearing qualities.

I found it funny. Even though no one has said they aren't going to buy it.

Stephanie Sheh has done a few FUNimation projects.

The most recent one, besides this, was Strike Witches.
According to her ANN page she's been in a few others.
xxxHolic movie, Mushi-shi, script for Romeo x Juliet.
She has a lot of credits to her name(s), so theres probably a few more.

She had a role in Strike Witches and wrote scripts for Hell Girl and Romeo x Juliet. I kind of like these inter-regional peeps; it gives off some variety in the dub production.
