If they're gonna license-rescue anything from Tokyopop, Lupin, Marmalade Boy, Kodocha, and Sailor Moon would be nice.

Del Rey should license rescue B't X, release the last volume, and then, if possible, re-release the manga in 8 omnibus volumes.

But really, finishing it is enough.

If I can remember correctly Sailor Moon can't be license-rescue, it's an issue where Toei is not letting anyone license anything Sailor Moon related. It’s why the Sailor Moon anime is out of print in the U.S. since no one can renew the license to the series.

It's cool these series are being saved my personal choice to be save would be Kindaichi Case Files there are only a few more volumes left in the series.

Toei has no control over the Sailor Moon manga. They have control over the anime, but not the manga.

Apparently Junko Takeuchi, the mangaka of Sailor Moon, was able to get the full rights to her manga and then promptly decided not to let it get licensed anymore. This was the most said from a person who worked at TokyoPop over on their forums:
"From what I heard, Takeuchi got the rights to Sailor Moon back and then stopped answering phone calls. Although that might only be for the animation. I'm not sure."

Sailor Moon in general just seems to be stuck behind an electric fence and no one, not even Tuxedo Mask, can seem to rescue her.

Is TP trying to destroy whatever is left of any fan loyalty to their fricken product?
We have to order all the volumes as they come out because heaven knows if they're printing more than 100 copies, but they sure seem to have a real problem about completing anything. I have so many TP titles dropped within 3 volumes of finishing, it really makes one think about picking up any of their titles. I hadn't even heard there were problems with SDK, but then I thought GetBackers was doing well enough for them when it seems to have landed into limbo.
Queen's Knight, BTX, Liling Po & Satisfaction Guaranteed come to mind as being dropped with 4 or less volumes left to go.

Brand is right; the unavailability of Sailor Moon (surprisingly) isn't Tokyopop's fault. I'm willing to say that Toei has actually locked the license basically everywhere but Japan, though supposedly they did a web poll not too long ago where one of the options was a streaming video version of SM, so maybe they're finally loosening their grip.

Also, does anyone know if Wild@Heart is like Zodiac P.I. in that the story and art are Ando's, or Kitchen Princess in that it's just the art?

Apparently Junko Takeuchi, the mangaka of Sailor Moon

You may be right, but I am not sure we need some real info on both our sides. I think is pretty much stopped working after she got married she may not want to be bothered with it any more but she was very involved with Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon and the Official Sailor Moon website but who knows what is up really. Unless someone has an interview from her or some such.

Also do you mean Naoko Takeuchi, the mangaka of Sailor Moon? Junko Takeuchi is a seiyū.

I checked Amazon.ca, and while TP's listings for future volumes are still up, I'm guessing they'll be going away since Del Rey's listings are also available.

They have listings for vol.35 and 36, with 400+ page counts for each, so I'm guessing they'll be double volumes to help finish the series quicker [so vol.35=35+36. 36=37+38]. Theyre priced at 18.99 canadian.

I know that Funimation did a poll a little while ago asking fans what titles they were interested in being licensed (mainly spring anime titles). One of them was a re-dub of the Sailor Moon series so they must think it's at least a possibility.
Anyway, wow, TP is really struggling these days. They have raised the prices and some of the newer mangas (like the latest Gakuen Alice volume) have flimsier covers as well. Although when I still see some of the silly stuff they publish (they should REALLY cut their adaptations of Star Trek and such....) it's no wonder that they are in trouble.

By this point, the telephone blame game as far as SM is concerned is so much the flustercuck that it might as well the the Jews from Angel Cop that are stoping Sailor Moon's exportation.

Also, Wild @ Heart, eh? Couln't spring for Yaiba instead?

YES on Sailor Moon.

FYI it's NAOKO Takeuchi. Junko Takeuchi is a voice actress.

If there's one license that desperately needs to be rescued from the cold clutches of Tokyopop, it's definetily Planetes. TP has completely ignored it after the series' initial print run, which is a real shame, since it's out of stock in a lot places.

Plus, it might pave the way for Vinland Saga finally getting licensed too! Wink

I already have Planetes, but I would love it if they got Vinland Saga.
