None of their remakes have been as decent as The Ring, but they're not awful, either. I wonder if Zac Effron will make a good Light, since I don't buy him as L.

I think this could be an easy remake to do. We won't have to worry about changing Light's or L's name; and it does have a fanbase outside of the regular anime fans.

It was all too obvious it would happen eventually. At least we can yell that we know it's going to suck.

Now that I think about it, how does that company still get projects, after The Grudge sequel disappointed, and My Sassy Girl went straight-to-video?

So a bit player from Orange County is writing this thing?
And Zac Efron? Are they gonna turn this thing into a musical? Which would sound pretty cool if Tim Burton was directing. |

prime: You never know, but I picked Effron, because of his hair.

I know. I just imagined a Deathnote musical this morning before I read this thing. So what's "Undercover" anyway? Cause apparently Chuck is writing that as well. Last edited by prime_pm on Mon Jun 02, 2008 3:20 pm; edited 1 time in total |

American remakes of Asian horror movies are awful, and some of them are crimes against mankind (I'm watching you, Pulse). The big problem is that Otaku fandom isn't as big as comic fandom, even people who never read Spiderman's comic knows who is Spidey for the cartoons but only otakus knows about Death Note, producers can change whatever they want. Look what Hollywood is making to Dragon Ball. The horror, the horror.

Just wait for the fanboy's outcry about how this movie will suck.
Heh, at least he looks the part. |

It's a shame that this franchise is getting a remake before all 3 films are released here.

I don't mind a series like DB having a movie but Death note? Why would they even consider doing something like this? I mean I know Death note has risen in popularity in the US but I don't think they should go and start a movie just because of that.
