I just want to confirm if the Steam version has adult content or is more aligned with the console versions. Basically, if I buy this version now, will the console version be the same or different?

vndb lists a 18+ version for it, probably in the form of a patch as is usual for Steam visual novels. So a console version will likely be the stripped version or same as the unpatched version on Steam. Sayori, the illustrator, also confirmed by tweet spoiler[that it's for those who want a Shigure route (the sister). That was also the reason they made the decision to make it a 'what if'/stand-alone game as to fend of possible criticism against the main series, to stave off those who'll likely be offended by that content.
