Even though Dan Da Dan was an easy first choice for most(and rightfully so), I'm surprised that more of our writers didn't pick Orb.(Kudos to Steve!) A most excellent character driven drama that looked great, too.

Guess my favorite of the year is Beastars. It continues developing more on themes of society, what it means to be part of it, and a lot more by having Legoshi drop school and find a partjob. This allows him to meet new character with different treats who act way different from what he is used to and tries to understand their cultures. While Lois and Haru still appear, I was more surprised by Legoshi's grandpa considering what he gives to the story. My only complain is that its fake subtitle as final season like what MAPPA did with Attack on Titan season 4.
Runner up would be Dandadan which I really loved but I was superconfused about its demography just like when hearing Chainsaw Man was published in the shonen jump. The animation was pretty good and the dynamic between Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura was pretty good.
It's a shame about Blue Lock season 2. The anime had the potential to be one of the most exciting sports series but something strange happened just like Uzumaki.

Geez, I didn't think Orb: On the Movements of the Earth was gonna get any love at all but thankfully Steve Jones stepped in. It's my anime of the season, although I enjoyed (with reservations) Dan Da Dan, as well. Sengoku Youko turned out to be a bit of a disappointment for me, but enjoyed the latest instalments of Blue Exorcist and Fairy Tail.

My favorite was Nina the Starry Bride with Natsume (THE best of the best overall) being a very very close second. I’m also really glad to see love for Acro Trip and Wonderful Pretty Cure! I’m glad PreCure handled the topic of losing a pet and so well, especially since I lost my kitty last week.

I'm so sorry. It's the worst pain, and I hope you're doing okay.

No surprise that Dan da Dan swept so many of the picks. I wonder how lop-sided this is historically -- like, in past ANN "Best Anime of..." lists, what percentage of folks typically pick the same show (either as best, or as best or runner-up)?

My favorite this season was unsurprisingly Sengoku Youko, given it's one of my favorite manga. I don't think the adaptation is being that great in some spots, but you gotta take what you can get sometimes. Runner up so far is a toss-up, Re:Zero or Natsume - both unfinished though Natsume only has one episode left while Re:Zero has a whole second half to go. I didn't watch most of the big anime mentioned in the article though, and was honestly surprised there was a Bleach apparently airing? Didn't really see any of it on social media, only Dandadan

That is quite the Dan da Dan sweep but I do think it is an earned one since I kept looking forward and thinking about the next episode the whole week. In fact, it is going to be a struggle to stay unspoiled until the next season.
Special mention to a few other shows:
Dragon Ball Daima is a lot of fun. Seeing the gang explore a brand new world is interesting and while there is less of a focus on brawling the fights feel exciting. Some interesting lore bits too though some elements do not match up with Super.
NegaPosi Angler offers great slice of life relaxation. The show has a strong presentation and succeeds in making you invested in the characters and how they become a group of friends. I have never seen such friendly debt collectors either.
Love Live! Superstar!! had a good final season. Some of the episodes felt a tad rushed but it did manage to feel like a full circle with the old generation leaving and the new one having grown enough to confidently take over.
Shangri-La Frontier is still a lot of fun. The show did have a few scorpion related episodes that were not the best but it become good again shortly after. There being a short arc in another game was interesting.

Dan Da Dan is the easy front-runner for me, but most surprising is DanMachi 5. I've enjoyed it since the first season, but it seems like it is getting more interesting each season. Maybe that is the benefit of going long enough to pay off what it was building at the start.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who picked Orb: On the Movements of the Earth as well as Negative Positive Angler. Both are well-rounded shows in terms of story, character, art and animation, and I expected these two to fly under the radar given Dandadan (which rounds up my top three), but apparently not!
Other than these three, shows that I looked forward to every week are: Ranma 1/2, Natsume Yuujinchou S7, and Nina the Starry Bride. The last one unfortunately suffers from the usual shojo adaptation malady (though apparently, it's from a Josei magazine), but sold me the premise enough for me to want to check out the manga.
This fall initially looked lackluster compared to last year's... but am happy to be proven wrong.

Dandadan for sure for me(and glad/not surprised to see the sweep), but Orb: On the Movements of the Earth would probably be my runner up, though I'm way behind on episodes at this point.

Orb for my mind
Dandadan for my funny bone
Beastars for my heart and for simply being an anime created by Studio Orange
