Wow, i've had about twelve copies of this at my library's acquisitions department for a week now. Guess I should finish processing them soon, huh?

Good news. I'm a huge death note fanatic so I'd probably pick this one up too. [When I get some money that is.]

this is good news, hopefully other manga will appear and keep manga in that top 150 more frequently then about once a month.

The new Naruto volume comes out next week, so I wouldn't be surprised to more manga on the list very soon.

This is the only thing that was able to make it eh? I hope something else starts making progress soon, but manga just doesn't get enough exposure or support to really put it out there.

It's probably because the market has been saturated by all these different titles coming in, many of which are pretty much the same formula. Sad but true, we've almost seen every kind of harem, bishounen, or creepy-angsty-teen-that-kills-demons-but-is-misjudged-by-some-mysterious-and-obscure-authoritarian-religion-and-or-government-officials-that-turn-out-to-be-secretly-corrupt-but-normal-people-seem-to-overlook-every-time-despite-being-within-the-same-proximity-as-the-event-that-just-happened characters delivered.

Course, One Manga.com isn't really helping things either.

But you just described a large majority of general fiction, why should only Manga be held to that standard? There is plenty of Manga that doesn't fall into those categories either. Also a great deal of your post is hyperbole and a poor imitation of the current market. Are there many Shounen? Yes, but are all of said titles angst? No, not really, many are varied and while a great deal are cliche in thier own ways, the diversity is still there. Nothing is truly unique anyway, Death Note is not exempt from this either.

Death Note and Naruto have exposure beyond many other Manga. Advertisment generates interest and I agree, One Manga doesn't help.
