Wow... WOW! Freakin' AWESOME!
This was the one with that epic two-parter though right? As the high point of the series, it deserves that rank! |

If only a Nanoha release here in R1 terrritory could be as successful. Or happen at all. (Damn you Geneon for dying before finishing your work!)

I really wish Geneon would sell the rights to Nanoha- if they can't be bothered to put it out, I'd love for someone else to. It's one of my top 5 favorite series overall... I'd pay full price for it!

well if anything, this news post itself will get people to notice the series more. i'm just really happy that it beat out the over hyped lucky star which is surprising to me since i didn't think nanoha was THAT popular to the point of beating out lucky star in dvd sales. plus, strikers is the only R2 series that i'm importing despite the high price.

Nanoha didn't become particularly huge until StrikerS. While its reception in the fansub circuit was lukewarm/often negative, Japanese fans have been all over this latest installment (much to the chagrin of the former, who prefer the direction of the first two series). |

really? i thought it was big even during the a's season recalling back to the eternal blaze opening hitting the #2 spot on the oricon. i'm one of those fans who liked it before strikers started and i will admit that strikers loses in story compared to nanoha and a's, but it's on the same level or even higher in action with a's.
i still find it interesting that the lucky star sales have dropped compared to earlier volumes (that i know of) even though it was suppousedly the great series after SHnY *coughoverhypecough*. was it just a fad that died out fast and couldn't support itself because japanese fans realized it's not anywhere in the same leauge as SHnY? |

Is StrikerS really that good? I loooooved the first season and A's, but the episode of StrikerS I watched didn't even keep my attention. But if so many people think those two episodes are the greatest thing since sliced bread, maybe I'll check it out.

Yeah, Nanoha A's did quite well. However, on average, each volume of StrikerS has sold twice as well as an A's volume, pushing the series past Clannad (Vol. 1) and Gurren-Lagann. It's an extraordinary level of success.
Yeah, that's a hard one. Unlike StrikerS, Lucky Star sales have dropped with each volume. Perhaps consumers are disappointed with the series, or they simply don't like it enough to collect 12 volumes (thus giving up on their purchases early). Kadokawa decided to spread 24 episodes across 12 DVDs, which is a tough sell. With 24-26 episode series, companies normally offer three episodes per volume (and two episodes per volume if a series spans 12-14 episodes). |

Unfortunately, the series went to hell after that as it had too few episodes to deal with its bloated cast. The art and animation also went down the tubes and several fights looked awful. And while the art will be fixed up, most of the fights will still suck. They had way too many characters and not enough time to develop them or make us care about them, particularly the villains. The first two season were great because the heroine(s) were fighting characters you cared about. Sadly, the same can't be said here. There was a generic evil guy plus his near dozen underlings. Yes, if the cast wasn't bloated enough, around the halfway point the introduce an additional 12 villains who, aside from one or two, never get enough personality to be distinguished from the others. And that was on top of the 15 or so new characters of varying degrees of importance. There were some good points, but its a far cry from First or A's. As someone eloquently put it in the AoD thread, it has 52 episodes of plot stuffed into 26 episodes with a 13 episode budget. |

Yeah......Lutecia + Garyu + Agito VS Subaru + Tiana + Erio + Caro + Ginga SUCKS...........Vita + Rein VS Zest + Agito SUCKS.......
What the well WOULD you qualify as a good fight? The animation was fixed for the DVD's , just like the first two series. Entire scene were redone even. If you have not seen StrikerS....WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR? Oh......but only watch it if you've seen the first two series, or you'll miss out a lot |

Yes, most of the fights were poor, some were outright laughable. Teanna's fight at the end was pretty good, Nanoha's last fight was decent, the last few seconds of Subaru's fight were good (too bad we didn't actually see most of it). Caro and Erio's fight was pathetic. They barely animated it.
Pretty much everything from the first two seasons[/quote]
They fixed the art and some of the animation, but they need to redo things from scratch to fix the Caro+Erio fight and add more episodes, because the issues the last 6 episodes had can't be fixed with just redoing some art and animation. The sometimes laughably bad art was just icing on the poo cake. |

if you think about it, it's probably a clever thing that they had poor animation in strikers. i say that because it's a good incentive to make fans buy the dvds so they can eat up quality animation and be satisfied with seeing it much better. if you take some other series say SHnY which had superior quality to start with when it aired, if you buy the dvds then.....so what? you got the same quality animation that was aired on t.v. and it's like "hoh hum" for me. when i watched the dvds of a's and strikers, i was in awe and very happy to see scenes leveled up compared to the t.v. counterpart. but that's just me, i like to look at the goods side of things because always being nitpicky about the bad stuff kills the desire to watch something you enjoy no matter what
