Initially I didn't blink at the association between Miike and a live action version of Yatterman. As a director, Miike is all over the map. But what made me think "Why are they doing that?" is the part where it mentions there is a remake of "Sakura no Sono" in the works. I have a copy of that movie (it takes place in an all girls high school and focuses on a staging of the eponymous Russian play) and am inclined to suspect it was a niche movie at the time it was released. But I digress here...
