Quick question: does Cid think Claire is a fellow chuuni, due to the power in her left arm? Because that's what I took from the end of episode 3
Otherwise, very fun start!

The way it was depicted in the anime was a bit ambiguous, but in the LN/manga it's clear that yes, he believes she's going through "that phase" and is trying to be supportive until she "grows out of it"

Ep 3 actually ends the first arc from Light Novel 3, and I thought there would be at least another episode or 2 covering this part because can they really cover the "Economic Disaster Arc" in 8 episodes? or are they going to to try and do the first half of Volume 4 in there as well? At 4 episodes a piece it's doable but I thought we were only getting LN 3 this season

This first arc was definitely a fine return for the series featuring everything that makes it such an entertaining show...genre mash-ups, comedy, attractive and fun ladies, action, and Cid being the most intense and insane LARPer of all time.

The op and PV imply that they plan to adapt the first half of volume 4 as well. I think they'll do 5 episodes for the economic arc by adapting Delta's backstory and an offscreen fight she had in that arc. The last 4 episodes will be for the Oriana arc, though it is pretty bold to end the season with a blatant cliffhanger. It seems popular enough that S3 is likely, and they do have source material with volume 5 out in Japan for a while now, but you never know for sure.

My body is ready to atomize!
I lost it when the Witch of Calamity possessed big sis' body and started to go atomic too!
I have a theory in my head that none of this is real. Cid is in a coma in a hospital bed after being struck by a truck and is dreaming.
Pretty much the entire world is running on a kind of dream logic, where the main dreamer thinks of any silly thing and things, events and people metastasize around it and make it real. Much like a dream. So any slip-up or zany thing Cid might think of becomes corrected and canon. Characters around him will play their part and hop on board.
Mind you, this world's existence is not a mystery I need solved, I just find it funny to rationalize it in that way. Though clearly we see characters acting from their own perspectives and engaging in things that Cid does not know about, so that doesn't fit with the dream logic hypothesis.

As a bonus, I get the feeling that he doesn't see himself as chuuni. Amazing.

When an anime/manga did that before he made sure to insert.plotholes, so when the last episode aired it was clear the plotholes never mattered. Same author.who did a long series where one character never existed and the other characters were taking turns playing her role

i just hope they do not make the same mistakes that season 2 of shield hero did! that season left out far too much from the light novels and trying too squeeze two major arcs in one 12 ep season (when every light novel fan was screaming on social media when it was announced that S2 would only have 12 eps that it would be a bad idea) sealed that seasons fate!
trying to adapt both the lawless city arc and the economic disaster arc in only 12 eps spund pretty dicey if you ask me

Not only does Cid repeat the lines about the moon and the frenzy back to the person who originally spoke them, he also says them to the vampire trying to res the queen and start the frenzy in the first place, as he is starting it! I'm sure, given any more time, he would have said them to the queen herself! I laughed so much during these first 3 episodes, and have already seem them multiple times. If you haven't started Eminence in Shadow, you're missing the best situational humor around.

I honestly couldn't believe how effective the moon-and-frenzy joke was. Normally I find repetition in anime humor super tedious, but that gag got me every single time. If anything, I started preemptively giggling more and more easily, each time I could tell it was coming up.

I think that Cid is actually aware he is full bore chunni.
He just has trained enough too back up his delusions and is determined to keep living the dream.
His refrain last season was that most people stop pursuing thier dreams but he hasn't.
It's part if why he doesn't put the pieces together on the Cult.
He assumes that the girls grew out of the game they were playing together, just like everyone else, and have gon off too do thier own thing.
He assumes that Beta and Epsilon and Gamma for example are thier covers and that they occasionally drop by to reminse with their old play mate.
Like a bunch of guys who played soccer in highschool dropping in to kick the ball around with thier buddy who is still trying to go pro while they got regular office jobs.
He is expecting Claire to go through the phase and get out. Just like everyone else he knows who has abandoned thier dreams.
The fact that he is so focused on his bucket list, but views it as a series of unconnected events, means he is not following the through line of his own life. He treats everyone els as props in his set piece experiences and never realizes that he is more than that in their lives.
His blindness to everything beyond the surface and immediate is perfectly encapsulated in the fourth episode. He can't see why counterfeiting would be bad just that it would be a fast way for him to "make" a lot of money. The consequences for the wider system don't even register.

I love when Cid assumes a new identity complete with a new voice courtesy of a legendary seiyuu. I also have to think he has, at some point, watched Code Geass.
I'm curious how they'll take this route of him going against Shadow Garden. The girls have created quite a business and operation but is it really on a house of cards? Are they prepared for the person they worship and ostensibly leads them to systematically take them down?
Yukime is a perfect business partner for Shadow because she, like everybody else, reads far too much into his actions and words.
Nice to see more Delta! And more Delta and Cid. I think the only Seven Shades he hasn't personally interacted with on-screen in the show now is Zeta but you'd probably forget about her if you weren't watching the animated shorts on youtube.

I'll just say Cid's understanding of crowbars far eclipses his understanding of monetary policy and leave it at that.
Shadow Garden is not in any danger.

I saw it mentioned elsewhere that the reason Delta was crawling all over Cid isn't just because she is clingy or only for fan service, but because she was marking him with her scent.
