Finally, The [expletive] curse is broken.

Asano's work is getting an anime adaptation. I knew that this could get an anime when they did the 3d animated promo for the manga. And, This is the most NORMALish Asano's Work has ever been.

Man, I am hyped for this one.

A surprising and great announcement! I can't wait to see how well this will come out.

Well, this is very good news. I hope for a Goodnight Punpun adaptation too, but let's see how this one plays out.

Looks like production +h is sticking around after The Orbital Children, and adapting an Asano manga at that!

Everything I've read by Asano has been well-written, but this is the first of his works that I've actively had an enjoyable time reading (rather than just feeling constantly sad at every point in the process). Looking forward to the adaptation!

Wtf, it's not gonna be a complete adaption right? The manga felt pretty long.

And that is probably among the reasons why that DDDD got chosen first as an anime adaption. Almost every other work by Asano is just too depressing to sit through again.

I always kind of knew if they're going to adapt any of Asano's works into anime, it's gotta be this one (or Solanin, but then again, that one already has a live action adaptation). But I wasn't sure they're actually going to do it: it's not going to be an easy one. Still much easier than Punpun for example, which is absolutely NOT suitable for TV unless they cut a bunch of content out or censor the hell out of it. Let's hope they'll knock it out of the park, it's one of my favorite mangas of all time.

Holy shit this is great! I figured the announcement might be an adaption, but I wasn't banking on it. Definitely the most ideal among his works to be turned into an anime. Surprised

It's going to be one of those awful looking 3DCG shows isn't it?

Finally going to see what the fuss is about this manga. Always seen the manga covers and news around it.

Expect 3DCG usage for sure since Asano himself is on the team as well and that's how he does his backgrounds (there's no way they can animate the alien ship and the mechas anyhow else anyway), but I think The Orbital Children - same studio - is a good indication of how the show is going to look.

Also, watch this one as well, it's done mainly in 3DCG but it's actually pretty, it's only 40 seconds: https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/dead-dead-demons-dededede-destruction-pv

While the news is great, I was hoping itd be either science saru or mappa picking it up. Nevertheless, I hope production +h will handle it well.

I've read the manga and it didn't really grab. I thought it was a bit to convoluted and messy and the ending was meh. But, to each their own.

The manga ended with a 100 chapters in total, most of them are dialogue heavy, so in my humble opinion, a 2-cours (split?) should be very well doable.
