It sucks, but I'll be honest and say I liked Harlock Saga better. What really sucks, though, is having to wait for an R1 dvd release of The Cockpit. I mean just piggy-back off of "Letters from Iwo Jima" for effs sake.

this sucks... I wonder if it will ever be put back into print. Unfortunately that deal is pretty bad for me as the shipping will more than double the cost.

Well you could go to rightstuf.com, tack it onto an order with an instock item and take advantage of the sale that is going on. Smile

Damn, and I'm broke until the middle of next week. Here's hoping copies will be left by then. Sad

AnimEigo is usually pretty good about stocks up until the cut-off. If they're announcing now five months ahead of time, they have plenty in stock. Remember last year? There was barely five weeks between the announcement and the cut off for Kimagure Orange Road TV and next to nobody knew about the KOR OAV and first movie with Crusher Joe going out of print two weeks later.

Should AnimEigo run out, you can probably still find a good to great price at TRSI. I ordered my KOR TV two weeks after going OOP and they still had enough to replace a bad disc on the order.

If anyone hasn't picked this film up yet, at this is an excellent film and has one of my highest recommendations. It's be nice if there was more Matsumoto stuff coming in than there is. There's so much older work released on VHS or just unavailable that I think modern fandom really needs on DVD.

I still want to hear Viz's lame excuse for refusing to release the Galaxy Express 999 movies on DVD. If they don't want to do it, then drop the license and let someone who gives a damn pick it up. Confused

You'd be better off just buying the R3 Korean release of the movies which has been out for years rather than holding your breath for Viz.

Nagisa: Some AOD'er claimed that Viz no longer has the rights.

Rightstuf.com has it for 9.99 with no other discount available, and Amazon still has it for 24.95...

Likewise I don't get paid until Tuesday....and I am probably going to buy that FFVII LE......which is going to break the bank, hopefully there will be some available when I get paid.

Seriously? Has it been that long since the license was announced? Why pick up a license to a movie and then not release it? Or at least have someone else release it like the uncut yu-gi-oh.

Viz' excuses: They got a horrible transfer (so bad they had to put an apology on the VHS release), and the licensor is Toei, who never gave them DVD rights in the first place. The VHS release tanked, and I'm sure Toei wants a large amount of money for DVD rights and new masters, which makes no financial sense for Viz. As for their license... I'm not 100% sure it's expired but I'm pretty sure they were waiting for it to lapse. So you got your wish.

Chill out.

Blockbuster (at least my local one) doesn't even have this title available. In fact my local BB doesn't really carry any anime other then what's on CN. I probably just going to get it from rentanime.

Apologies, but those two movies have an immense amount of sentimental value to me, and it's frustrating to go around hearing that the company that has the license to them is sitting on them until they expire. I don't think it's unreasonable to develop some sort of animosity towards said company when that's all of the story you hear for several years. Thank you for clarifying.

Man, do I hate Toei. They have got to be the most draconian production company in Japan. I so can't wait until One Piece ends over there, just so they
lose what little market share they have left. I'm not fond of Gonzo, and I don't really go for stuff from I.G., but if Black Cat and Prince of Tennis are successful enough to take away future production deals from Toei, then I'm all for those shows being produced at other companies.
