No surprise that FUNi acquired Solty Rei; in fact, I predicted it on the other forum I use.

It's about time they officialy announced the rights to Solty Rei. A friend and I saw the first couple of episodes(fan subbed) at a small gmaing convention a few months back. We both really liked what we saw of it.

Now I guess I just have to play the waiting game a little longer waiting for them to release the DVDs of it.

As for the Witchblade, does anyone know if it's any good(I didn't care for the American live action series, but I'm hoping the anime is better)?

Thanks. Cool

Yeah but that was to inforce intellectual rights. http://animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=7979 It wasn't an official announcement, now that it's official, hopefully work will be started realatively soon to get the series out on the market.

Thanks. Cool

3/3. All 3 of the "FUNi C&D" anime have finally been officially announced.

They licensed Garasu no Kantai as well though? Surprised That seemed rather unexpected, even if it is a Gonzo title & all. Licensing titles early seems to happen more frequently than I thought. =\

jdb728: I've only seen the first ep & I haven't seen the L-A series, but it looks alright. Nothing too special.

*Biased comment*But it the protagonist is voiced by Mamiko Noto though, which makes it oh so much better (for me). Very Happy But then again, I like any series with Mamiko Noto voice-acting in it, so meh. *End biased comment*

Does FUNimation LIKE wasting money on shitty shows from a studio with a spotty track record? Solty Rei and Glass no Kantai are probably some of the worse shows... ever.

Well I liked Solty Rei. Hopefully they'll be springing for the extras since I wanted to get the LE R2s but couldn't afford them.

I really can't believed they licensed Glass no Kantai... It was a failed project...

Which of course could also mean the licensing costs were low enough they figured the risk was minimal. Solty-Rei on the other hand does interest me somewhat and I may give it a look when it's released.

The report of the C&D that I read did say that Solty Rei was to be known as Origin. Most likely there was some confusion somewhere along the telegraph.

Obviously a typo now on FUNi's part, especially since that name applies to an anime film they acquired. That title obviously would not have worked for SoltyRei.

It could equally have been a typo on the part of the person who passed on the text of the C&D - I don't think I ever saw a copy of the actual letter.
