Berserk too (we think). I guess we’ll struggle together.
At least HxH got enough chapters for a volume. Berserk only got 4 chapters...

Wow I'm sure nobody expected it ( lol ) !
I really like this manga since the first week but seriously i'm tired ... really tired ... Even though comparing to last 2 decades hiatus are more and more frequent in the manga industry the one like HxH, D gray M, Berserk etc .... are seriously unforgivable, these authors have lost the trust of their reader, i'm sure some of them won't last old enought to finish them or heavily rush them once they reach some point .

I love how this is being announced on April 1st, but I think we all know damn well that this is for real. Because we all expected it. Because we all have basic pattern recognition. How many chapters did he get out this time, enough for another volume, or, nah?

Togashi can afford to take as many breaks as he wants. He and his wife are doing well for themselves so he’s not hurting for money. Does he have health issues?

He got exactly 10 out, which is just enough for another volume.

he used to complain about them a lot but he hasn't mentioned them recently.
he would be wise not to take too many long hiatus anymore if he wants to finish HxH in his lifetime.
may need to get an apprentice like Toriyama so that he can focus fully on the story and polishing art for tankobon.

It's not.
Totally Togashi.

Some salty people like to tell that he's spending too much time "playing on Dragon Quest", etc., but everyone who knows how hard it is to make a weekly manga (or simply watch/read Bakuman.) is aware that this job brings some health problems. I don't think that he's lazying around because his writing is still amazing.
I've read interviews that he was pretty exhausted to do YuYu Hakusho and it's very likely that his health problems from back then have never gone away.
I've heard recently that Togashi recently said in a joking way that he might not be alive to finish HunterXHunter. Well, let's hope it never comes to the worst scenario.
A lot of people think he should let another artist draw the art for him while he does the story, but he doesn't want to do it differently. It must be his pride as a creator. Some people don't tolerate that and simply want it to be finished as soon as possible, others, like myself, respect him for his decision. I accept getting a volume at least once per year. The last hiatus wasn't even that long and it lasted for only 18 issues. It's better than 2015. Having 10 chapters in a row per year is definitively better than random chapters being spread throughout the year.
Changing to a monthly magazine wouldn't solve the problem.

He still got my trust. I've been reading the manga since 2010, the hiatus doesn't bother me. I mean, with the arc that this Dark Continent is being shaped up to being it'll be his most complex one. Whether this is because of health reasons or not I'm sure he always takes this hiatus time to plan and draft until he feels comfortable enough to release a volume's worth. I'd rather have that than rushed chapters.

Wouldn't be surprised. Seems to be a running trend. Both start up Jan/Feb and make 2-3 months worth of content. Then hiatus. I feel like the both of them should just hire someone to draw and just write so they can get these series back on track.

For Berserk, it wouldn't make that much sense, since the Miura's artwork is that detailed. If another author would do the art for him, it would still take a lot of time.
For HunterXHunter, it's Togashi's pride as a creator to end his manga how he wants and he wants it draw it by himself (with assistants) and doesn't want people to mess around his work like with YuYu Hakusho back then.

Togashi is either trolling or he has too much pride to allow others to work on Hunter x Hunter. I hope that he doesn't feel compelled to continue the series if he's lost interest in it.
I prefer that Togashi hand responsibility of the series to another team so that his audience could at least see his ideas realized in the actual manga. Togashi can still be in charge even if others are doing the more laborious tasks.
