Those who shell out the extra few dollars for the art box (it only cost me $4 more on sale) will find nice wrap-around artwork but no other frills.

At Best Buy (the one I went to, at lest), the price was the same, with or without the box. I bought it with the box several weeks ago, but I haven't gotten around to actually watching it yet.

I got a chance to see fansubs of Genshiken and let me just say that "I dig this show". As with all anime about fans of anime, this show introduces you to yourself and other fans that you may know. Equally funny and frightening at times, Genshiken is a must see for all anime fans.

People, check this one out. You will be glad that you did.

Most definitely! Cool I got interested in Genshiken after reading Bamboo's excellent article about it in Protoculture Addicts #84 (the cover of that issue also helped). After reading that article, I decided to straight-out buy the DVD when it came out in July, and it's definitely one of the best, if not the best mockumentary on the market; a perfect companion to my Comic Party DVDs.

However, I thought the episode of Kujibiki Unbalance was a bit confusing in terms of what the story structure was, and Theron's review of the episode didn't help much (save for the C+ grade he gave for story). The UNDER17 concert form Tokyo's 2004 Character show was pretty cute. Laughing I really like the way they sound. (They also perform the theme song for DearS - "Love Slave".)

See, to me, Genshiken is everything Comic Party wasn't. The show hits the nail on the head, rather than creating a bunch of super-attractive, blase likable characters who fall in love etc etc etc blah blah.

Comic Party is a dating sim, Genshiken isn't.

While I absolutely love Comic Party, I tend to agree with Zac on this one. Genshiken is something that is believable whereas Comic Party is a little too.... perfect. I didn't actually know any of the characters from CP. Genshiken, on the other hand, was filled with people that I know and see on a weekly basis.

Um, just about anywhere that anime DVDs are sold. It's been out (in the U.S. at least) for a couple of weeks now.

If you don't have local stores, try Anime Nation (which I've always found to be reliable) or Deep Discount DVD (which a lot of other people have recommended).

Comic party isn't even on the same level as Genshiken.

One of the best series of this years and you get 5 episode per disc. Media Blaster and Bandai are always generous with their episode per disc counts.

I know that! Very Happy I was merely referencing the fact that they're both mockumentaries. Wink
