If it keeps true to the manga and is like the first season than I already have high hopes for it and I can't wait for it to come around (hopefully it doesn't get massed hated on like the first season did)

I was wondering when season 2 was going to come out to see how many times the show could get Anime of the Year. Looks like it'll be two years in a row.

Only half kidding, of course, as the first season hasn't even got my AotY locked in yet either, but more than halfway through the year already and well let's just say Fall needs to have some shows to truly blow my pants off because usually by now the Winter shows kinda fade from my mind, with the lower tier shows just completely disappearing from memory while the better shows I still remember but kinda forget how much I loved them, but not the case this year, so unless Fall comes a swinging, Rakugo pretty much has it clinched.

If season 2 is even a fraction as good as the first, it should have little trouble claiming the repeat. Cool

^Agreed. Fall has Yuri on Ice which could be strong competition, and noitaminA's Fune wo Amu which also looks promising, but other than that, I don't see anything else that could stand a chance of dethroning Rakugo. It's just such a rare and outstanding gem it's hard to think anything will reach its level

Although I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the Legend of the Galactic Heroes remake to be worthy of my anticipation, I'm having a hard time imagining it being as thrilling as Rakugo Shinju was. And likely will be! With the tragedy part of the story now over, we're going to enter new territory. But as long as the same people work on this who were responsible for the masterpiece that was the first season, my faith is endless.

A lot prefers boings over lengthy narrative rakugos.

That being said, I am very excited to see Yotaro going back to being the main character and how his character progresses.

Deen wants to dominate again and pulled the second seasons of KonoSuba and Rakugo both on Winter 2017. Not like I had some problems with that. Very Happy

Very Happy

I've got no idea what else 2017 has in store for us, but this will definitely be hard to top.

Alright. 2017 just got better. The first season is also my anime of the year for 2016. This second part would automatically be in the running for AOTY for 2017 if I gave that recognition to sequels.
