Is Britain manly enough to let that flag ignite their souls to the point of suprassing the impossible and kicking reason to the curb?

I remember someone posted a link to the daily telegraph website in the anime forum the other day, it was locked for having no relation to anime, oh how the tables have, to some extent, turned.
Despite being helluva cool to have some anime character, or anime-inspired symbol on one's national flag, it would at the same time be ridiculous. I wonder why the Japanese in particular decided to joke around with the idea. Perhaps we british people should adopt this flag: It's from anime and represents Wales, (the yellow I take to be of St Davids flag), all we need to do is recreate an entirely detestable empire (and the Japanese could help teach us how) and perhaps to top things off, rename ouselves the Britannian empire. Ah Code Geass... Last edited by Time and Space on Sun Dec 16, 2007 9:42 pm; edited 10 times in total |

I am so confused.
So, the Daily Telegraph solicited redesigns for the British flag (for fun, obviously) and asked readers to vote for them, and three of the top 20 submissions were anime-related, and two of those were the top votes? Is that what happened? I just don't really understand. If my understanding of it is right, then wow, that's pretty funny. Japan is taking over the UK! |

I personally liked the flag that incorporated the leeks and the one with the whale, myself (though the one with the whale actually made me think of Gundam SEED more than the country of Wales )

Yeah and Steven Colbert has a bridge in Europe named after him...so yeah, an informal internet poll is usually not very accurate when there are fans with too much time on their hands out there.

i'm pretty sure that VAST majority of Britains don't know what anime is or where the picture is from...
they just voted with the "coolest" looking one out of the bunch... |

Heh, they should adopt the flag and change their motto to "Who the hell do you think we are!?"

Correct, the majority wouldn't know the picture's origin, but they are not so mindless that they've never heard of anime before. |
