Is any distributor ever going to output The Mysterious Cities of Gold in English? There are licensed French, German, and Japanese sets, but still no English.

Regards,
Jason

Well, back in the late 80's, sometime around 1988, there was an English dub. I remember it would air on Nickelodeon in the afternoons. However, the chances of an English dub getting a re-release anytime soon on either DVD or VHS is highly unlikely, there's just not enough demand to justify it anymore, that is if the original licensor even still holds the license. However, if by some miracle it were to be released again, I'd jump on buying it in a minute.

Yea, the English dub was done by multidub international, directed by Howard Ryshpan, back in the early 80s. He also directed the English dubbing for Ulysses 31. In regards to licensing, it appears that NHK still owns the copyrights in the UK and USA.

I meant when will a distributor work a deal with NHK and release the exisiting English dub. It is taking forever Anime smile

In regards to demand, true, it has been off the air in the USA for 12+ years now. But there are still many fans as you can see "unofficial" English vcd \ dvd sets selling daily on ebay for quite a lot of money in my opinion.

The animation is a little dated being it was created by Studio Pierrot in the early 80s, but the story is still as good as ever.

Jason
