Pardon my french, but what the hell happened to communication among people? Surely if the daughter thought this "issue" throughly, she could have come up with a conclusion.
She can forget about living a normal life now, I highly doubt her parents, or any family member will forgive her, much less give her a place to stay.
Are we really living in a world where communication is almost obsolete and violence is rampent? I am pretty sure if the daugher sold the manga or moved the manga else where none of this would have occured.
This makes me wonder if the daugher is mentally ill or has had a illness for several years now.

One of the many local radio stations for the Central PA/ Harrisburg region WINK 104 mentioned this story this morning on their morning show. I was about half tried since I've been up since 2:30 this morning due to my car deciding that it wanted to set the alarm off AGAIN. Anyways I found it quite an interesting story, but I have to agree with Teriyaki Terrier, did this lady have some mental health issues or something?

Boy, I'd like to know what HER problem was. Must have been a real rampant fangirl I'd say.

...so no one's yet touched on the fact that she had three rooms full of merchandise?
Excessive, much?

I was about to say why doesn't she open her own manga library with that kind of collection? And 36!? This woman has some serious issues!

Wait, plotted?
What I got out of this article is only that she mentioned it, not wrote out some elaborate plan. It could easily have been a immature reactionary way of venting, not an actual desire to kill her parents. Just like here where if we're upset at our parents, we might say something like: "My dad is such a freaking jerk, I wish he'd just die!"

This Otaku lifestyle is SERIOUS,believe it or not.
In my 20 years of collecting,If that was ever compromised,I wouldn't hesitate to go the limit. You can never tell what the feeling of the situation was,but after 36 years, she should have had it together.
But goddammit,3 rooms filled?Give at least one back, oujosama.

And unemployed and living with her parents at that age? And freaks out because basically, "oh dear, your sister needs a place to live? And your $500,000 collection is taking up too much room". This sounds like a more twisted version of "Step Brothers".
Seriously, if she had sold a roomful of that collection, she probably could have bought her own place!
Her parents must have the patience of a saint. Any other parent would have told her to move out LONG before that.

One might think that her desperation to maintain her manga collection would motivate her to actually get a job so that she could maintain it properly rather than threaten to begin killing people. I'm going to go out on a limb, though, and conclude that her problems with her parents extend far, far beyond where she stores her manga.

And I'm not going to lie, i've thought along those lines before. It's hard to argue with someone who thinks they're right all the time. I've even asked a friend, jokingly, to hit my dad with a car. I guess those types of things can't be communicated by text alone.

She should've found work and earn enough money to rent out a storage locker, so she can put her manga and video collection there for safe keeping.

Quote: | A 36-year-old unemployed Japanese women was charged on Wednesday for allegedly asking for help in killing her parents, after they had asked her to clear out part of her manga collection from their home. According to the police investigation, she had written on the 2channel forum on September 7 at around 11:30 a.m. that she wanted to kill her parents. She had taken up three rooms of her parents' home with several thousand manga volumes and numerous video tapes. She is the second oldest daughter, and her parents had asked her to clear out one room for the 40-year-old oldest daughter to move back in. Her post was seen and then reported to the authorities. |
There are so many different layers of "What the fudge is wrong with you?!" summarized in that paragraph that I don't even know where to start...
