It was announced and a preview video was released in mid-2007. However, nothing else has been said about it officially in quite some time. Gonzo has not announced any cancellation for the project, and projects getting canceled for which some animation has already been created is rare (but not unheard-of), but neither has it been put on any TV schedules for this year. Thus its status is still completely up in the air.

I guarantee that you're not the only person around here very interested in knowing what's going on with this (I'm a big Kiddy Grade fan myself), so new about it will certainly hit the main page if/when it becomes available.

I'm not holding my breath since lately things seem kind of out of whack all over when it comes to anime. Still, I'd sure like to see Kiddy Grade 2 before too long. (Maybe we should pester Funimation about it on the off chance they could annoy Gonzo into getting it made.)

Gonzo has no involvement in the sequel however, the sequel and it's preview are animation by asread, as was the extra material and touchup work for the movies, however their current project is ga-rei.

I didn't know that Kiddy Grade had much of a fandom in the first place. It surprised me that it got a sequel. And the fan response to it made me realize that KG did have a decent-sized fanbase.

I'd like to see KG2 if it's good. It seems to feature an entirely new cast, so the original characters are going to have a smaller role, I believe. I'm not sure I remember the details about the sequel.

As far as the "good guys" go there are 4 new characters and 4 returning characters, so it is only 50% new. And this is assuming that the new characters aren't just old characters with new names and faces. You can see the new guys here and the full lineup at the top here.

I think the first to characters in the first link are Eclair and Lumiere (I can't read Japanese so sorry if they are labelled something else). If you notice in the second link 2 of the sets of clones are there with their different incarnations so I think that the "real Eclair and Lumiere" changed their looks to differentiate themselves from the clones.

If you look up you'll see I translated all names as best I could. Those two are Ascule and Que Feuilles (these translations are provided by Newtype USA so I only have their word that they are right).

That is a scan of the reverse cover of the KG2 pilot DVD and shows all the main characters from the PV, parts of which are recaps from the original series, novels and manga which is why the old characters are there at the bottom. The clones are not there at all however.

They don't make the TV production yet.

Sales may not support this one. Funimation dumped the singles and the 2-pack DVD sets in their budget line last year, FYE stores had them for $8 a shot, less if you found them having a sale.

That line was shrink wrapped and everything had the same bar code on the shrink over the original, I ended up going to 4 or 5 stores to get the 4 2-pack sets to complete the series - but I looked in stores in places I was going anyways, so I only had about $20 or so tied up after selling them some used DVDs and buying a couple volumes at a 2-for-1 sale.

But stores had no way to know what of the couple dozen or so titles they had, even some singles of FMA made it into that budget line.
