That's awesome
I wonder how many people will travel there just to take a picture with Totoro? |

That is so cool! Hopefully the umbrella was designed big enough that people can actually stand underneath it. I'd expect many people would travel to take a picture. I would definitely consider it if I lived nearby.

Hey, they got Ge Ge Ge no Kitaro statues around the areas why not 'Totoro'.
That's really neat. Though from looking at the umbrella I'll take my chances with the bus stop. Hahaha! Great find! |

That's wonderful.
That particular scene is one of my favorite moments from anime... or in fact, any movie. The big, stupid, happy grin he gets when the water splats on the umbrella is funny beyond description, at least to me. I wish I still had my original VHS copy... for some reason, I liked that dub a lot more than the new one. Probably just because I saw it when I was younger, and not used to watching Japanese tracks. |

I've watch both dubs and I like the old Carl Macek dub. I think what kills the Disney dub is the girl who plays the youngest daughter sounds like she is screeching all the time and has a very annoying voice. |

I'm underwhelmed by that statue :[ I was expecting it to be bigger, but I suppose it's still very cool!

It'd be nice if they had one at every Japanese bus stop.

IIRC, the girl who did the youngest daughter Mei in the old Troma dub later voiced brat [s]Jessica[/s] Angelica** in The Rugrats. (** Thanks TestamentSaki) Last edited by enurtsol on Sat Jan 19, 2008 12:15 am; edited 1 time in total |

Possibly this real-life cat bus will cheer you up. |

Moomintroll: that actually cheered me up more than I know how to say. I had one of those "want to laugh but there's somebody in the next room so you just blow air out your nose and grin like a maniac" moments. Well, maybe not everybody has those...
Dub conversation: I used to watch Rugrats, but it started to become kind of... bad. I have no idea who Jessica is, whether I'm forgetting or just never saw her. Something in your tone, enurtsol, makes me glad. One thing I liked about the older dub- when Mei says "Gollywollypogs!" When I heard the revised line, whatever it was, I felt kind of disappointed and wanted to stop watching. |

Oops, Angelica**. Shows how long ago I watched the show. (** Thanks, TestamentSaki)

Nope. I just assumed the worst, thinking that another character had been added to the show. Plus, you know, all the difficulty of conveying tone through text and whatnot.
Regardless, let's all go look at the catbus picture again. All misunderstandings, no matter how large or small, are wiped away by its all-healing grin. Imagine trying to direct your road-rage against that! You'd probably just wind up laughing yourself off the road. |
