I dunno.

Despite some of Cruise's wacky beliefs, he is still a good actor. Having his name attached wont hurt the theater gross, either.

This is false. Every movie he's been in for the last 10 years has been Tom Cruise "surrounded" by other better actors. Even that Nazi flick, all the supporting cast was better.

Actually, after the big $cilon debacle, it just might hurt them.

I guess Tom "Mapaphor" Cruise is still reeling from when Paramount had his ass kicked off the lot, and Spielberg made a few select calls to keep him out of work in Hollywood.

Doesn't matter anyway who's in it. It's another Hollywood screw-up of a Japanese property. It will be so messed up the true fans will stay away from it.

I don't know why people make such a big deal of Tom Cruise being a scientologist. It's just another religion. The stuff they believe in are crazy, but the same applies to pretty much every other religions in the world. It's likely that all religions are created while the founder was on drugs.

On the other hand...

Warner Brothers paid a low seven-figure price for an All You Need is Kill film screenplay by Dante Harper last spring.

THIS...is something to be concerned about.

It says the studio paid a "low seven figures" for the screenplay. Would that I were in a position to consider any seven-figure amount to be "low".

And for something that might never get made...

My statement was an opinion; you can't just say it's "false" and move on. Judging by your general attitude, it feels like you dislike him as a whole because of his behaviors. While I can't say I support everything he's done, he's made some phenomenal movies. Also, it might help your point if you actually act like you've seen the "Nazi flick." (It's called Valkyrie, by the way.) You can say this actor or that actor is better, but if you have not seen the film, you can't exactly judge how he does in comparison to them. Assuming you have not seen the movie, of course, though I'd expect you to actually name it if you had.

I'm not saying Cruise hasn't been in any crap films. I'm not saying he hasn't acted badly in some films. I'm saying that, as a whole, he is not bad. (And often times the films where he didn't live up to his potential had a boatload of other issues as well.)

What true fans?! How many people in the West have read Hiroshi Sakurazaka's Japanese text novel All You Need Is Kill? Laughing

enurtsol: Yeah, really. Even Mardock is probably relying more on the MA rating of the DVD than any actual WOM.

I think Tom Cruise is a good actor, as well. He's been character cast to the point where he can't be seen out of the same character personality, but that doesn't mean he's not good. I don't like every movie he is in, after all, its the movies that are crappy. It's the producers, directors, screenwriters, and editors who are fault on that. It takes more than ONE person to make a movie.

I'm pretty sure that there are some actors you think are great that I might think aren't good. I still say that Heath Ledger was highly over-rated myself, even though people fawn over him. If they liked him, so be it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

It's not your soul choice to say a statement, of someone else's opinion, is "False".

Well, to be fair, the Japanese name doesn't make that much sense and sounds really Engrish-y. We Are Mortals is a bit generic, but doesn't sound so strikingly ungrammatically correct. All You Need is Kill may sound okay to Japan, but it wouldn't fly in any mainly-English-speaking countries (US, UK, NZ, AUS, etc). It will/would probably just be released in Japan with the original title.
