I'm starting to read some of the Advance line (I haven't read every single one of them just Death Note and Pretty Face, pretty soon I'll add Eyeshield 21), and now I have been noticing some things recently with there choices in new series. Pretty Face and Strawberry 100%? What's with that? I'm not saying that its bad to have them, but why is Shonen Jump Advance now aimming at ecchi titles now?
Not only that, I just learned that they Ral & Grad to their line up that'll now feature an Mature Content label on the front (Who knows what'll end up in there)! Website for Proof: http://www.simonsays.com/content/book.cfm?tab=1&pid=592325 I'm not sure that I am liking this new angle with the Advance Line, though Pretty Face is pretty good. I'm not saying this is a bad thing or that I'm protesting this, I'm just saying we aren't getting any recent action titles that are a bit more intense than regular Shonen, though getting Gin Tama was pretty cool, I haven't read it yet. |

Both of those titles are from Shonen Jump Japan, so it only fits that SJ would pick them up. I'm not sure why they added the "Advance" category, but it makes sense to put the more adult-themed of the SJJ titles under that category. They're still shounen, in the end. |

/quote] Because it sells. And its hardly new. They've just finished I"s, and other titles in both their SJA line and others have had ecchi content. |

Well not all of their Advanced line is like that. Check out series like Claymore or D.Gray-Man. Those are on the advanced line and good intense action titles. Kurohime is also on there as well, that one was, well, alright, based on the 1 volume I did read. I don't know if stuff like Houshin Engi or Hunter X Hunter, or even Busou Renkin are more your taste though. From the sound of it, not so much, but IMO those are good SJ advnaced series as well.

The closest Buso Renkin gets to Ecchi is a) the main character asking his sister to loan him her uniform (for a friend), b) porn mags, c) a girl character fighting in clothes usually worn under a track suit (a small, tight shirt, and boxer-like shorts), and d)Papilon Mask's questionable clothing choices.
Oh, and the bath house scene, where everyone compares the sizes of their ******, while the girls go to a nearby cafe. |
