Harlock has a very convoluted continuity, and most series simply don't fit together. There are really no less than five timelines. More info, however dated can be found here http://www.cornponeflicks.org/harlock/continuity.html

Namely, Arcadia of My Youth (#507) is not a direct prequel to Captain Harlock TV (#1238). It tells an alternate beginning to the story which completely contradicts the TV series (AoMY starts with an alien invasion, CHTV starts with no way believing aliens exist, and so on ).

SSX (#3452) is a sequel to Arcadia only (correctly listed on it's page, but listed as a sequel to Captain Harlock TV on its page). Captain Harlock TV basically stands alone.

It can be argued that the shows are related to Galaxy Express 999, and Space Battleship Yamato, as they tend to crossover. Though the continuities again make this difficult to break down. Confused

Replaced with "alternate retelling."

Em, no. The relationship descriptor in parentheses only indicates what it is to the one it links to i.e. one level up. In this case, SSX is only linked to Arcadia as the latter's sequel.
