I've seen atleast one of every genre of anime but for me none matches up to the action/fighting type of anime. I just wanted to know what is the best fight you've seen in an anime. It can be any type of fight like a sword battle, hand to hand combat, anything.

Please quote the reason why you like the fight.

The best fights i've seen are, the Goku vs Cell battle in DBZ. Out of the most battles in DBZ (which are 20 - 30 episodes long) i like this one cause its short(only 4 eps long) and it does not have powering up for more than a few minutes. Not only that but it is fast, many techniques are used and does not have any staredowns either. Its just in ring rumble for 4 eps.

Another fight that i like a lot is from Rurouni Kenshinspoiler[Kenshin vs Saitou fight in ep 30 of the Rurouni Kenshin TV series. It is probably the best fight of the entire series and is a really fast paced battle. The best part about this fight is that it is short and bitter and Kenshin actually fights rather than rattling about life and blah blah.]

Edit:- Forgot that this information could be a spoiler so i added the spoiler tag for the Rurouni Kenshin fight. I think that the DBZ fight does'nt need a spoiler tag.[/spoiler]

Hmm fights...let's see.
I really loved the fight in Bleach spoiler[between Kuchiki Byakuya and Ichigo after Ichigo releases Bankai! I loved when his face got half covered by the hollow mask as well. That was one of the most suprising moments of any anime i've ever seen. I also love Kuchiki Byakuya's Bankai...it's beautiful! It was also great to see Ichigo's new power after waiting sooo long, and to see the suprised look in Kuchiki Byakuya's eyes!]

I loved the final 'game' in Gantz fights too. spoiler[When Kurono (sp?) had to defend himself from everyone else, but the two homeless-people-killing guys decided to fight for themselves and pretty much everyone died! That was awesome.]

The final episode of Gungrave had some amazing scenes. Not just the fighting, but the drama between the two characters at the end. It just added to intensity of the fight.

A lot of the fights in Hunter X Hunter. I really loved almost all of them. I was always stuck wondering what would happen next when Gon decides spoiler["I won't let you win, but I won't let you let me win unless it's the way I want to win.] Also Killua was amazing and is by far one of my favorite anime characters. Everything he does in fighting always amazed me and a lot of true skills were kept secret till later. And of course there is Hisoka, one of my all-time favorite bad guys. He was just sooo evil and merciless, I loved it! Since there are so many fights I can't remember which ones I liked best...all of them I guess. Very Happy Even the 10 second fight between Killua and the big-seemingly evil prisoner in the tower whenspoiler[ you really think Killua is going to lose and there is no hope, but he suddenly appears on the other side of the guy holding his beating heart in his hand...I was speechless for about a day.]

Trigun had some amazing fights, but it's been almost a year since I've watched it so I can't remember any specifically. Samurai Champloo had some good fights, and I especially loved the ones toward the end, and the ones between Mugen and Jin the best.

And of course, Naruto had plenty of great fights. I loved the fight during the Chuunin (sp?) exam between spoiler[Naruto and Gaara. First because of the two personalities of the two. They seem completely different at first: Naruto being all nice and moralistic and Gaara being all cold and merciless. But once you discover Gaara's past it adds to the excitement of the fight. Plus Gaaras ability to manipulate sand was awesome. The fight between Shikamaru and Temari during the exam was also great. Shikamaru never ceases to amaze me. And then his surrender at the end was surprising as well! Of course, any fight between Naruto and Sasuke is amazing and should go without saying. The fight between Orochimaru and the Third Hakoge was great as well! The outcome surpised me and I was also dying to see the Third finally fight. I guess there are so many fights I can't cover every single one I've loved.]

Oh, today, Hunter X finished on TV (it's the second time on tv but the first time i saw it) and i can't think on other thing than Hunter X amazing animated fights. I think that HX is the best animated tv series i haver ever seen, fast movements are sooo well done, character's clothes and hair, faces expressions, the scenario, all is always in movement during the fights, it's amazing, i was amazed by some super-fast animated sequences, i saw some scenes 10 times frame by frame and i'm still being amazed.
spoiler[Kurapika against the guy of the genei ryodan, the big/ strong guy: that fight was amazing, the time when Kurapika was telling the bad guy "tell me or i'll kill you" was so exciting and when he finally killed him, it was the best.
Killua's dad and granfather against genei ryodan's leader, another very exciting battle and greatly animated, lamentably it was too short but those seconds of pure animation are priceless]

I think every battle in HX was good, exciting and very well animated, also they were very original.

Sorry for my poooor english, i'm not lazy but i don't know english very well.

Yes! I completely forgot about that one! The suspense and the outcome were amazing. Kurapica is defintely one of my favorite characters and I loved howspoiler[ he changed so much from the beginning to the end.] Hunter X Hunter is defintely one of the better anime series i've seen as well. It's got a lot of great fighting scenes, amazing characters, wonderful animation, and a unique plot.

thanks

Several of the coolest fight scenes I've ever seen were in the second Yu Yu Hakusho movie. The first one was the fight at Kasane Shrine with Yusuke and Kuwabara fighting demons from the Neather Realm trying to save Hinageshi. I saw the film like a year after it came out in Japan in like 1995 for our High School anime club. I'd only heard about Yu Yu Hakusho before then in video game magazines and never seen it so, the animation blew me away and the lightning pace of the fights themselves were incredible. It was a really short fight scene but, memorable enough for me. The second one was the final battle between Yusuke and his group and Yakumo, King of the Neather Realm. The animation was absolutely gorgeous in that last fight and again, the fight scenes were so well choreographed and just kick ass that it makes it one of the best I've ever seen.

I'm also gonna throw in the fight between Seiya and Shiryu in episodes 4 and 5 of Saint Seiya. Very nicely animated for 1986 and bloodier than all get out with some really hard hitting moments.

Last but not least, Kenshiro vs. Raoh in the Fist of the North Star movie. Hands down the best fight scene I've ever watched in an anime. Basically when these two fight, their power seems to tear apart the earth at the seams with lightning and tornadoes, earthquakes...buildings toppling every which way, blood squirting everywhere....a glorious fight scene in every sense of the word. Nicely animated, very fast paced, very hard hitting and bloody action.

GITS SAC: where the one eyed sniper guy ( not good at remembering anime names ) has a flash back and tells about the time which he was spoiler[fighting agains motoko. ]

Animation wise:
GITS: Major Vs. army tank fight is my all time favorite in all animated videos.

Well, for anime fights, I've got to say that there's nothing more classic than A-ko and B-ko's infamous duel towards the end of Project A-ko.

From B-ko revealing her "battle suit" to A-ko jumping from missile to missile, it's anime lunacy at its very finest, and animated with a great flair.

There are a few that come to mind that can rival the Project A-ko fight, certainly the first episode of Bubblegum Crisis (great animation, great pacing, and Hurricane and Soldier Girl pulsing in the background) and definitely Char and Amuro's final encounter in Char's Counterattack, but for my money Project A-ko set the bar exceedingly high for a good anime fight scene.

Besides, back then, the fight was the whole damned movie instead of four or five frames. C'mon studios! Shamelessly pander to my desire for sex and violence! I miss 1974-1992.

i loved that fight to, and so many others in Bleach. spoiler[one such example is the fight with Zaraki Kenpachi and Ichigo. so much action and so much blood. Kenpachi's zanpakuto shocker kicked ass]

another one is spoiler[Ichigo versus Renji. that fight was very even matched but still kicked ass on so many levels. this is of course the second fight between them.]

finally, in One Piece spoiler[the entire fight between Luffy's Crew and Arlong's. it was so powerfully moving, in my opinion, and had some of the best action of the series in perhaps the best arc. also the fight with Eneru in Sky Piea.]

Not only were those fights good, but I loved the fights spoiler[between Luffy and Bellamy and Luffy and Usopp.

The Luffy and Bellamy fight was just the quisisential showcase of Luffy being a complete and utter badass. It's a shame that Bellamy had to be the one to lose so severely, cause he had such potential. It was his bad luck to run into Luffy, I guess. Laughing

The Luffy and Usopp fight was so heartbreaking. I loved the dialogue surrounding the fight, and Usopp's barrage of vain attempts to bring Luffy down, and when the water splashed on Merry and it looked like it was crying?? Oh man. Crying or Very sad I had a difficult time forgiving Luffy for a little while because of that fight.]

Oh yes! Yes!!! This fight scene in Rurouni Kenshin (my all time fav anime) is definately the best fight scene I've ever seen! It's so intense and like you said, fast paced. spoiler[Not only that but in that battle, the hitokiri really came out. It was the only time during the series that I feared the hitokiri overpowering the rurouni within him. Furthermore, the battle was so awesome because Saitou's skill is equivilent to that of Kenshin's, thereby forcing Kenshin to give it his all. And the whole thing with Kaoru resting her head in fear on Kenshin's back right before the battle... so awesome!!! ] Combat anime rules!!!

edit: oops... I forgot to put spoilers.

From Rurouni Kenshin, u seem to have forgotten, spoiler[the fight between Sano and Monk Anji, because they were fighting past their true physical limitations and for their own versions of saving the world, and even thoughh you know Anji is in the "wrong" u still cheer him own, cause he is etientially a good guy.]

Also, from Saint Seiya, spoiler[ in volume 12 of the ADV version, the fight between Phoenix Ikki, and Gold Saint Virgo, Shaka. It could really be the one fight in which Ikki really redeemed himself for his past, as he sacrificed himself to find the seventh sense, and to defeat the most powerful Gold Saint. He really showed his true love for the other bronze saints, his "brothers".]

From Street Fighter the movie spoiler[Not sure why but I thought Chun Lee vs. Vega was pretty good had Iced earth music going and just an overall good quality fight that sticks out. Plus she kicked him through a wall off a huge building.]

From Hajime no Ippo spoiler[So many great fights from this anime but Ippo vs. Mashiba was probably the best or atleast near the best.Since Mashiba was setup as the villain and took down Ippo's rival was good revenge moment for Ippo.]

And for my overall favorite from Get Backers spoiler[Any fights involving the Lightning Emperor are good. Mainly beating Akudo not to sure why these are my favorite but just fun to watch.]

Sunabouza not a very well known animespoiler[ Pretty much every fight in this anime is great, each one unique using weird tricks and strategy/gadgets. Don't think I've seen anything else like it ever *because there isn't atleast I don't think there is* Would describe a few of the fights but a little to complicated.]

Yup, that's one hell of a fight, spoiler[ They keep using the Futae no kiwami on each other on and on and they still keep going. Hardcore stuff.]

BTW, whom do you think is the actual winner of the fight. Kenshin says its, spoiler[Sano] but that didn't seem like the result to me.
