First off, O M G. I saw the movie for the first time and I was joyed that Ed was going back but nooooo they had to keep him over there. Question is now, Is the manga version going to have a good ending or will i just waste time reading it? Srsly these half-ending anime is getting oldddd.

edit
I see that the manga is not finsh yet, well is it still worth reading? Know what, just spoil it for me. lol

Edit again,
I search on google and it seems the manga is behind the anime...is that tru? This saddens me

The Fullmetal Alchemist manga is completely different from the anime, so if you're expecting to find a conclusion to the whole alternate worlds thing, you'll be disappointed because it doesn't exist in the manga. However, the manga is VERY worth reading- in fact, I like it way better than the anime.

Edit: As for the ending, the manga is still going strong. In Japan, it seems to be getting closer to the climax, with many big revelations being thrown around. It'll probably take at least another year before it's finished, though. And Arakawa Hiromu had the ending planned from the very beginning (she specifically asked the anime staff not to use her ending), so it'll probably be good.

I believe there is already a thread on this topic, but it's about the U.S. release of the manga. But to answer the question, the manga follows the story of the anime for about the first 7 or 8 volumes, then completely goes off on it's own story, so it has nothing to do with the ending of the anime. But I think you'll probably like the manga's storyline though, probably even better.

I believe Arakawa has said something to the effect of the manga finishing in a year or so. And yes, the manga is completely different after a certain point, although any of the similar episodes in the anime end differently. I like to theink of the anime as a different take on the same story (which it essentially is).

Oh, wow. My boyfriend is reading the manga and I just watched all 51 episodes and he's pretty much seen all the episodes too. So one day he was over and we watched an episode I had and he said something like, "what? In the manga that person..." blah blah blah.. I thought It just had subtle differences like that. That's pretty interesting to find out, though. I really didn't know much about the series. I just thought it was a pretty good show. I think I'm gonna look into reading the manga if I ever get caught up on the books I have already, lol.

I've always wound up being seriously confused when a manga and anime share the same universe but have rather different stories and characters. I usually have to end up choosing one medium over the other. Personally, I prefer the anime, mostly because I like it's simplicity(eg, there's only one type of alchemy), overall plot, and the fact that I saw the anime before I read any of the manga.

I didn't realize how far the anime veered from the manga, until I started reading the manga. And...woah. Sorry to say, but the anime looks sorta stupid compared to the manga Wink No offence, or anything.

Hiromu Arakawa is super de duper. I can't wait til the grand finale of the manga.

The manga by far is so much more hilarious than the anime ever was, although in the later volumes of FMA it starts to become much more serious. But still IMHO the FMA manga is by far much much better than the anime and is definetly worth reading.
