It looks so pretty and fun! Makes me nostalgic for the heyday of VN adaptions.

We are currently in the middle of a small resurgence of visual novel adaptations, of which this series is probably the most notable.
I always encourage people to support these kinds of shows, so in addition to Summer Pockets, I urge anyone reading this to also check out "9-nine- Ruler's Crown" and "Nukitashi" once they're ready to air.

Ever year I hope to see VN's and eroge regain even a fraction of the influence they once held in the anime space back in the 00's...
Summer Pockets is the first time a full-length Key visual novel has received an anime adaptation in about a decade, and if the industry were anything like it was in the glory days, THIS would be most anime viewer's #1 most anticipated show for the Spring season.
The fact that it feels like it's kind of flying under-the-radar for anyone but existing VN enthusiasts is kind of saddening, but indicative of the lack of influence VN adaptations have in this space now...

When did the fanbase abandon visual novel anime? I kind of feel like Rewrite was a turning point, when the second season didn't even get enough votes to continue doing weekly reviews here at ANN.

When I ran the BD/DVD sales numbers for a con panel a few years back, the high point was 2006 (both in terms of disc sales and total number of shows), and the genre was in free fall by 2012, buoyed only by Fate (both the movies and Unlimited Blade Works) and Uta no Prince-sama, which a lot of people don't immediately identify as a VN title anyways. In fact, both of those evolved from VNs to be wide-ranging multimedia franchises. The last "pure" VN adaptation to sell better than 10K discs/volume in Japan appears to have been 2012's Little Busters!

Since then, VN adaptations have been a murder's row of failure. It's entirely possible to not realize that Island, Yu-No, Muv-Luv Alternative, Chaos;Child, and Steins;Gate Zero all got anime adaptations, and all of them sank like a rock.

I feel like this is a much easier story to animate than Rewrite. That one was convoluted as a game. Summer Pockets is a good game and I have high hopes that they'll do a good job with the adaptation. That being said, I feel like if they do a good job on animation and story it should get some traction and create some fans.

Also noted, that's the happiest I've ever seen Hairi, lol.
