They terminated his contract on his birthday. I have to laugh because that's his birthday gift from them.

I remember he was going through some mental health issues a month or two ago and was asking fans to send him letters and stuff of encouragement. Sad that it seemed to end this way.

“Special fraud” makes it sound so much weirder than something like “wire fraud”

According to the Japan Federation of Bar Associations, it's a term for a scam that defrauds random unacquainted persons out of money or other property over the phone or other communication means. It sounds a bit like the wire fraud law here in the US. This sort of crime is usually carried out by the yakuza. It usually targets the socially vulnerable, such as the elderly.

Thanks for the information, I was wondering what "special fraud" was, and this sounds like wire fraud and reminds me of a certain congressman from New York currently charged with that fraud. Junya Ikeda's crime reminds me of George Santos for some reason.

That's sad. I was a fan of him from his Gokaiger days. Kind of ironic that Gai would end up becoming an IRL criminal.

Yomiuri Shimbun has more details: https://www.yomiuri.co.jp/national/20231030-OYT1T50138/
He allegedly worked with an accomplice to scam a man in Koto-ku out of his cash card. He posed as a police officer and visited the man's home. They have CCTV footage related to the case. |

Ok no I only hope this was only because he was threatened in a way that gave him no choice to do this, otherwise...the balls on this guy |

Sad news indeed. Hope that he will return to his career soon despite all these troubles. |

I guess they'll have to recast Knives for the Trigun Stampede sequel, whenever that comes out.

After literally duping people out of their money? A crime?? No way. At the very least, his career as a VA is over. Casting won’t want to touch him with a fifty foot pole. And it absolutely baffles me that people say “oh no, he must have not have been making much money to have fallen to this!” It’s not like people with money don’t try schemes to make more money. He was absolutely making good money from his career. Way better than the staff supporting him, at the very least. |

Sucks to see this, Mitsuru has such a unique voice. I know HappyEle said they were still investigating but there's no way they're gonna hire him back.

Not to mention, even if he hadn't been making good money, there are ways to do something about that which don't involve doing crime. I really don't understand how this is an excuse. I don't make good money whatsoever, and yet here I am not scamming people out of their money. Anyway, it's a pity that he did this because I liked his voice and the performances I heard him do. It's sad that he decided to go down this road. |
