Oooh, I wonder if David Productions is going to be tackling this one as well, they did a great job with Urusei Yatsura.

Lots of reliable sources are saying it's Mappa since animators were contacted via Twitter to work on it. And Mappa stage is in July iirc.

I wonder if it;ll be like Urusei Yatsura and be a complete remake or be like Inuyasha: Final Act where it'll pick up where the original anime let off.
Also, if this gets an English dub, don't expect anyone from the original anime to come back for this.

A whole anime dedicated to my most hated trope, “Angry girl physically beating the crap out of a guy for something innocuous or a misunderstanding”.
Hard pass

From what I have been told, via rumors Davi's Pro is working on the new JJBA and Fire Force.

This was a forgone conclusion the second Urusei Yatsura was announced. Its original show technically adapted the manga´s finale but Ranma left 16 volumes on the table. Movies and OVAs pushed the material to a point where only 4 volumes were left, minus cut content, but I bet that the new anime will start from the start as you can´t make a sequel to a 4:3 traditionally colored show that stopped airing in 1992, with a few OVAs into 1996 and a random filler OVA in 2008. Over 3 decades is simply too long ago regardless of how ubiquitous the IP is in Japan. Making only 1 cour to simply adapt the final section also leaves money on the table.
The manga and original anime were so "practically softporn" that the anime was shown uncensored in a children´s afterschool block on its original German broadcast in the 00s. This is one of the least objectionable and one of the least sexual ecchi of all time. Viz isn´t age-gating the manga either, etc. They will simply cut out the nipples, like every Rumino anime starting with Inuyasha.

Hi remember me?
I was the one who said that the most likely title to be remake next would be Ranma 1/2 in the ursuei yatsura forum.
I was right on the money
Yeah while i still love the og manga/anime this def going to cause some issues with modern audience i mean heck even i cringed at some of the stuff the original showed back than.
Happosai is the largest issue most have, to be fair people don't really condone his behaviour even in the series he is treated as a horrible being. As long as they highlight this and he still suffers the consequences of his actions, i think it will be alright but we shall see.

The original only showed breasts. There was also an old man who stole bras and tried to hug Ranma's breasts.
Very glad we're getting new adaptations of Ramna, Hokuto no Ken and Yaiba!
The only other remakes I'd like to see are Soul Eater, Claymore and Konjiki Gash Bell.

"Regardless of how ubiquitous the IP is in Japan" we really dont think like that in Japan, unlike westerners, we love a lot of older anime (heck the 79 Gundam is like the original star wars to us), unlike the west we dont discredit older anime and manga, just like we dont disregard old literature. The Ranma anime is still pretty much loved and known among kids today (7 to 13 year olds), the manga as well. A remake would be amazing because there are so many volumes they didn't adapt from the original anime. Can't wait for it!

Fun fact: it was censored in LATAM, and quite the clumsy censorship, they literally just cut complete scenes.
LATAM didn't get the complete thing until it aired in Toonami , they blurred it though, but at least you could see now what happened during the cut.
What is acceptable in Germany is not the world standar.

While yes, the OG anime had lots of toplessness, it never felt "dirty" to me.
The 90's OVAs? Changed enough to make it weird.
Hoping they stick to Takahashi Sensei's and OG Anime style.
