Sure hope these creative differences didn’t exacerbate whatever issues the author already had. Or drove them to this.

This story has just bummed me out since I first heard about it. I wonder if the live-action adaptation of Sexy Tanaka-san will get some kind of North American release, like on Netflix, say. I'd be curious to see it.

As a fellow creator I can say that I would be shocked if they didn't. It can be very VERY hard to see things you put your heart and soul into ruined. Some people can handle it but a lot of us cant and I imagine it is even harder if things are already going bad in someone's life.

"She said she did voice her complaints, and the first seven episodes eventually remained largely faithful to the manga. Ashihara had said that throughout the entire production, she never met with the show's scriptwriter and she did not talk directly with the director."
I don't get it, the LA was faithful or not?

My understanding is that the first seven episodes remained largely faithful to the manga because Ashihara-san voiced her complaints. Before that, these episodes were different from the manga.

Yes this is generally the gist of it. For the first seven episodes, whenever she received plot summaries or scripts, they were, in her opinion, vastly different from her manga. When she asked about why the changes were made, she said the replies were unsatisfactory. It was due to her complaints that things got changed enough that the first seven episodes remained, in her opinion, largely faithful, but she said it completely exhausted her.

Oh i am sure the issues she had with the company definitely contributed.
IT sucks as this is still a lot more common than people think.

When I read the title I was wondering why NTV would have to apologize for her death and now I see why. Sad that something that was supposed to be exciting for a mangaka ended up so stressful for her.

I can't imagine this adaption being any worse than something like Dragonball Evolution, so the mangaka no doubt had prior issues with depression and mental health and this more than likely was the tipping point.

I wonder in moments like this, if her loved ones were just there with her or closer. This is something that could have been smoothed out. Another soul lost to the abyss =(

Expected PR response to the situation. There wouldn't need to be an apology had you did things right originally (of course, if the cause of her suicide was this whole situation).
Things really need to change.
