If Idol Showdown is on Steam then this definitely should be as well.

The original reason for it not being on Steam initially is that Kay Yu, the head of the project only sees this purely as a passion-fueled fan game and didn't want anyone thinking it was anything beyond that so it was placed on itch.io.

Not true. originally it was due to steam being a commercial business and seen as one by cover. He said that it took lots of talking to managers to get this accepted and that they were more than helpful with it. Had nothing to do with it being a passion project but something purely on covers side |

He did talk to cover since March according to that reddit account you posted though...its just that cover is slow on reacting bout it... But he ask them again when the launcher got taken down and told them the urgency for it so Cover did give him a green lit for it
