So the wording in this is kind of misleading. The English dub is not remastered, it's just a brand new dub that was produced a couple of years ago, I could assume the anime footage itself was remastered but the English dub audio is not. Also for anybody reading this forum who isn't aware, this is the same dub that was on Netflix that unfortunately was later taken off, I'm glad I watched all of it when I did because I fell in love. Also this dub was made because Sentai Filmworks were the ones to do the English voice recording for the CG reboot and Toei hired them to dub this original show. Also to clear up some immediate confusion I believe Toei themselves have full control of Saint Seiya in America so that's why they hired Sentai just as a dubbing studio. Last thing I wanna say is I really do think this dub is solid. I think it hits that perfect balance between having quality modern talent but still having a little bit of that early dub cheese that would fit a classic 80s anime like this.

By “remastered,” they mean the Saints are now actually called “Saints” for the entire series? The dub on Netflix started calling them “Knights” with episode 41. That’s also when they began calling the “cloth” “armor.” Apparently those changes were demanded by Netflix to go with the CG reboot, and the director recorded alternate takes with the correct terminology in case the dub ever found a home elsewhere.

Good question, especially since the airing is here as a promotion for the film (Crunchyroll has begun advertising it on its social media). I’m hoping the answer is yes, but I presume it’s on Sony.

I haven't had a chance to check it out myself, but I hope they used the dub with the correct terminology.

I'm glad it's finally back on streaming and I'm glad they have the Sentai dub but why is it dub only and not also including the sub?

I'm lost, what's a remastered dub? It sounds like something between an existing dub and a new dub, as in they got one of currently existing dubs and re-recorded certain parts of it. I can't see how it would be the Netflix dub, I know they allow their dubs on home release for a lot of money, but I've never heard of them being on other streaming services. Not unless the rights have expired.

Like Beat said, don't forget there's an actual Knights of the Zodiac film to check out in theaters around the world starting next week. May 12 for the U.S.

It's the Sentai/Netflix dub from what I hear. It would be amazing if they fixed using Knights over Saints in later episodes, I'm just not sure they'd put the effort into that. I don't have CR right now so would be nice if anyone can confirm.

It’s a remastered dub because two dubs existed beforehand, the terrible KOTZ dub from DIC and an old dub ADV did. My guess is Netflix lost the rights to the dub when they lost the rights to the show, since actors from that dub began promoting its arrival on Crunchyroll.
A lot of Netflix exclusives per se, are leases rather than purchases. Look at the Dreamworks shows that were labeled as exclusives but began leaving the service last month since Dreamworks’ contract with them expired.

I’m gonna note that the extremely short (by Netflix standards) license period for the show and the way Netflix lost the later part of the CGI remake was a pretty big hint that Netflix wasn’t the driving force, Toei was. Toei actually tends to pay for dubs themselves and are the reason the various Lupin shows are getting dubbed despite several of the seasons being from Discotek, a company that doesn’t generally dub whole shows.
At least, IIRC, I could be wrong.

Zender: TMS has Lupin, not Toei.

back when it came out on Netflix, the ADR Director confirmed they record alternate takes in case it was shown elsewhere. I'm curious if CR is using these re-takes.

Yeah, you can also see that in the Producer interview for the live-action movie since the show was mentioned there.

You're wrong on the Lupin example (that's TMS) but you're right that they pay for dubs too. This redub was one of them since it also had J-LOD funding for the dub and subtitles. Netflix may have screwed around with the "Knights" change but they don't have as much control over it as most of their other dubs.
