Thanks for putting these together. The Willow chair was driving me crazy, since it looked so familiar, but I couldn’t find it anywhere (it didn’t help that I was positive it was by Frank Lloyd Wright).
It’s also nice to see the chairs’ symbolism laid out. |

I also associate the Ball Chair as the seat of No.2 in weird 60's series The Prisoner.

I love when authors come up with cool ideas like these. What a great way to show off great characters and highlight them in such an interesting way. A+++++

Haven't read the manga, but even just browsing through Barnes & Noble, I always found these covers super striking, even with their relative simplicity. This was a fun read, I was only familiar with a couple of the iconic chairs!

Great article, and some insightful analysis. Some of these chairs were familiar to me, some weren't. Plus I hadn't seen the vol. 9 cover yet; Becky is one of my favorite side characters, so I was happy to see her get a turn.
The Fiona cover hits me as extremely on the nose, but I like the subtlety of the others. The futuristic look of Bond's chair is especially appropriate given his ability. Curious to see what the rest of the chairs and sofas will be; a Jacobsen Egg Chair would be neat, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was at least one more Eames piece. |

Who will get the Herman Miller Aeron, I wonder? Just about every designer and every architect designs a chair, so there are plenty to choose from. |

There appears to be a mid-century modern aesthetic running through all the chair selections so far (with the possible exception of the Willow Chair), so an Aeron seems unlikely. I briefly wondered if a Memphis Group design would show up at some point, but that wouldn't fit in, either. |

I think this should also be pointed out in regards to Bond’s Ball Chair
spoiler[Apparently Bond can see the future, which aligns again with the futuristic aesthetic of the chair.] |

Number 4 doesn’t remind me of a chair, but “Orbit”.

Partial to chairs 8 and 9. Eight looks a you could get Comfy In it to a read delightful book or newspaper not to mention I could use the footstool if I play my Viola. The other chair is a chair I would have out on my deck for Lounging while I surf on the net. I could sit how I want and get comfy not worrying about the arm rest getting in my way.

Well, the Forgers have a poster on their living-room wall of the Eames DSR chair. Does that count? (Oh, of course all the chairs would be mid-20th Century --- that's pretty clearly when the series is set, after all.) |
