Can't Kodansha itself make a MangaPlus-like legal manga site just to read mangas legally worldwide? Why now but not early?
Just shows that reading mangas on legal sites is harder than on illegal sites, which is easier. And now I will never finishing reading of AOT ending because of it. Japan's very strict copyright law may applied worldwide like EU's GDPR. If all illegal anime and manga sites shutdown next year because of it, that means I will miss some mangas who I read on illegal sites including Detective Conan( I don't want to miss the ending). As for animes, I will miss seasons 2 of The Promised Neverland and Cells at Work (all of them on Funi and Wakanim). 2021 will be a shit year for those who read mangas and watch animes on illegal sites. Maybe if the Japanese made Attack on Titan more accessible world wide, there would be less piracy!

this brings back one piece memories , especifically when they used the word leak.
the biggest problem with popular manga piracy is that the pirates get it out before the official version, and that can have a big impact in the sales. one thing is venkata rajimanayan reading a scanned chapter of aot that is never going to get licensed in his country, another is having kurito kageyama read the chapter 2 days before ut hits the streets them having him not buy the magazine that he otherwise was going to buy. |

But new chapters are available in English worldwide. You can purchase the new chapters same time as it comes out in Japan (I believe) on Bookwalker Global/ for $2 each, where it is available in every country of the world except Japan (for the English version), and it's also free on Crunchyroll manga with a premium subscription (don't know if that's region restricted, but their apps are terrible and the website version requires Flash which is about to be phased out so don't know what they will do about that for the January issue). I believe you can also purchase the chapters as they come out on comixology (either per chapter or stream it with Comixology Unlimited subscription) and on each local Amazon website. |

But the US isn't the rest of the world. Sure the manga it's available in Crunchyroll or you can buy a digital copy on Bookwalker but those only work if you either live in the US or you're good at english. I read the wsj titles on the manga plus app because it's in spanish, I would like Kodansha and Kadokawa to do the same.

try all you want to enforce a worldwide law...there will ALWAYS be an area your law has no value. people would just move databases there and avoid the risk. Only risk is to those who upload them (and can do work arounds for that. |

I literally just said Crunchyroll manga and Bookwalker are available worldwide. So don’t say it’s region locked. As for Spanish translations, that’s a completely different thing and depends on the manga publishers in Latin America/Spain. |

Some Bookwalker titles are region-locked, especially light novel titles, and I think I read somewhere the same applies for Crunchyroll manga, if you happen to live in places like Indonesia... |

This is true. That’s why I made sure to check the “regional availability” for Attack on Titan before posting. You can see for yourself that the only country you can’t buy on is Japan. I’m glad Bookwalker openly gives us this information. |

They do release a certain number of weekly and monthly chapters, but the reason Kodansha Comics can't do a Jump+ type subscription service is just that there's not enough weekly and/or bi/semi-weekly chapters to boot. As well as probably when they started to do the simulpub back in 2016? iirc, they didn't have the ability to do said thing nor was it popular at the time and had to sign up with ebook vendors to do said simulpub and if they started doing the subscription routine, well contracts could be broken or hefty penalties do to said contractual obligations, as no one would purchase on said ebook site and just sub on the kc site instead. |
