With all the major movies getting pushed to next year, there is really nothing to draw people in. And really outside of those people who think the corona virus is a minor flu or feel invincible, who really wants to be in an enclosed room for two hours with the corona virus floating around; no matter how much they brag about the rooms ventilation.
Don't see how AMC can stay open for much longer either. If they were smart they would be opening drive-ins theaters on some of those massive parking lots. All they really need is a screen, projector, and a radio frequency. |

allows ...That's a strange way to say that AMC isn't going to ban Universal films from its screens now that it's getting a cut of streaming revenue. AMC bans Universal films from its theaters over 'Trolls World Tour' spat |

Lol. It’s because AMC realized they were the only ones with something to lose by not screening Universal movies. |

True. I was listening to a radio report about smaller theaters trying to get by, with some of them doing things like drive-ins, but the movie they were playing was Back to the Future. It's hard not to think that once the novelty wears off, people aren't going to be all that excited to go see an old movie they could watch in various more convenient ways. |

I don't understand the logic in keeping theaters closed. They can open restaurants, where people sit with no masks, talk and eat. They can open gyms where people run around, breathing heavy and sweating. But they can't open a theater where you sit quietly by yourself and watch a movie?

I have eaten in restaurants, but only if they are not crowded, and they are enforcing social distancing. Nor am I hanging out in them. Eat, then depart. Won't be caught dead in a gym, for the reasons you state. But a theater you are not by yourself, there is still people all around you, and most of them, probably won't be wearing masks. Especially if they are eating popcorn or other foods. So you are sitting in an enclosed room for much longer than you would eating in a restaurant or working out at the gym. Each to their own, but gyms and cinema are both too risky for my age group. |
