Well I guess I don't need to feel bad about never redeeming those UltraViolet codes I always forget I have.

Aside from that seeing the name has always been a continual reminder that the movie Ultraviolet exists, and it had an anime spin off, and it was directed by Osamu Dezaki. This is the information that plays out in my brain every time I see the logo.

Lol and here was me thinking I was the only one. The first time I saw an UltraViolet sticker on a BD case I was like, why the hell does this film come bundled with the Ultraviolet movie.

I wonder if the Movies Anywhere app (joint venture? Whatever it is...) either directly or indirectly lead to the death of UltraViolet... either way it's a bummer, because UV was one of the few ways I managed to unite all my digital copies of stuff I bought on BD.

You could always rip the BDs and encode them yourself.
It is totally legal in the US and EU.

Not sure about legality but that's what I do, the rare times I get discs, rip or remux. Never bothered with UltraViolet...
