Oh ho ho ho, Overlord is back and fun as ever. While I would like to know what the big conflicts this season will be (my understanding is it's vol 7 and 9), this episode was still fun as heck since we haven't seen that much of the interior workings of Nazarick. Or at least it feels that way.

Overlord has returned and I’m glad to see these characters again.
 Since there was no mention of it in the review, the scene with Albedo pushing Ains to the ground had me chuckling the most this week. Seeing the maids appear so early in the OP also leads me to think that they may have a bigger role here than they did last season. Looking forward to seeing what’s next.
Also, the new OP/ED combo is very nice. |

That's probably why Theron said might and nothing definitive. I'm more surprised the fact Aura had to listen to a hardcore necrophiliac share her preferences wasn't mentioned. Lupis saying things are getting boring at Carne screams foreshadowing to me, especially given the goblins and villagers in the op. Albedo also getting more physical with Ains is raising red flags for me. Last season she was seemingly dissatisfied with "Ains" the guild while reminiscing about "Ains" Momongo. Now she's willing to jump him on impulse and ignore his orders. And as always, Mare best girl. |

I am also loving the new opening song and the aesthetics of the ending, a definitive improvement from the last one. I am so glad they will get to finish vol 9 on this season. this is the perfect stoping point if we never get any more overlord anime in the future. but seeing how aware they are of the overseas fanbase I am looking hopeful for more

The anime cut out how Ainz's simple invite for the male guardians to hit the spa together became an mini-adventure for Mare. |

Just FYI, this episode is one of the side stories that was in the novels, it's not really party of the main story (although it does allude to things that are happening at the time) so there arn't any major plot elements here, it's basically a canon filler episode. Last season had the same thing for its first episode. I am super happy they included it though, the bicorn part is funny and I expect many memes of Albedo trying to snu snu Ainz.
I'm REALLY looking forward to this season, it's probably going to have the biggest swing in the atmosphere of this series so far. |

Sorry, but there's a lot of documentation out there which says that the OP is "VORACITY." M&R does have a new song out there called "Heaven Sunshine," but it's not an Overlord theme. |

"current king of isekai" sounds dumb since I don't see it as an isekai series.
We don't know if he's in a hybrid version of Iggdrasil and the real middle ages or was moved with the game server into a different video game. Not to mention his real body didn't transfer with him which, to me, is the single biggest thing that makes a show an isekai. That said, reincarnated into a different world is the biggest waste of isekai. It IS isekai, but it doesn't use any of the reasons why you would want to make a show an isekai. Maybe it's just me but the whole point of isekai is to have the main character approach this new world with real world logic and flip its rules on itself, or have the main character so upended by the new world that they need to change themselves in a drastic way. As it is, the series might as well be some guy making his own video game, but an anomalous AI begins making characters live and react without programming, and the programmer is just figuring out if this new system just a crazy complex glitch or if these programs are now true sentient beings. I mean ffs, it takes 200 years in the future JUST so the main character can be using really good VR... Even if my whole argument is bullshit, I think some of these reasons are at least at the core of what makes this whole show so great. There is no grand overarching plot, just goofy super strong characters dealing with a more or less a normal world. That said, I would like some a war to break out eventually with some impressive powers being used, but slice of life with 1 or 2 episodes of action per arc is more this show's speed it seems. |

To be fair, your first interpretation was correct that I was talking about the new OP, VORACITY, being heaven. It does seem MYTH&ROID have switched to opening duties as CD Japan does have a listing for VORACITY with MYTH&ROID as the artist. In any case, I think we can all agree the new opening is fantastic
