I don't know if this is worth posting on ANN; it's not like a sensationalist crime where someone does something odd, he just wanted to fight back against someone and happened to have a Zelda sword on hand.

"..., T.P was assaulting a female roommate, and he punched a bystander who tried to intervene. The documents state that T.P. punched Tazruk's fiance while she was holding her infant child."
I can't be the only one that has no sympathy for the "victim" in this case. I would be more interested in if he is going to be charged with assault. |

Exactly. And possibly child endangerment, too. |

Stories like this with their aftermaths are rage inducing.
The supposed 'victim' was assaulting his female roommate. The supposed 'victim' assaulted a bystander trying to stop him. Don't know if the female roommate was the fiance with the baby, but if she wasn't then she too was assaulted by the supposed 'victim'. Really don't understand why the guy who defended everyone goes to jail. Either this story is 'cracked', or the police are. |

Just because you were punched doesn't automatically mean you can grab a knife and try to stab them to death. Just like with that Power Rangers actor who murdered his roomate with a sword during an argument, the response has to be relative to the aggressive to be defended as self defense. Otherwise, it's assault. -Stuart Smith |

You do have a point, but this doesn't sound like that type of brawl. You have a man attacking a woman, that same man attacked a man trying to stop that man from attacking that woman. Not sure if the woman was the one with the child in arms, or was another woman there also being attacked. If the above was truly the case, I'd think a knife or a gun would be justified to protect the woman and child from being attacked. |

Yeah, I would be more interest in what happens to this T.P. Sounds like he should be the one who should be sent to prison, as he attacked someone else first, and without provocation. |

I can understand Tarzuk going to jail as a sorta "you went too far" type deal.
But TP should be in prison. |

If four people couldn't stop TP's attacks using their own bodies, why wouldn't they be allowed to bring actual weapons to protect themselves and the two women and the child. While 'fight club' type brawls are the favorite of Hollywood, most people don't have the skills or strength to go mano 'o' mano with an enraged man, mad drunk, or a psychopath high on drugs. Hopefully, there is information that is being withheld that would explain the police's actions. Otherwise this case is mind boggling. |

For some actual context here is the court document.
See: https://s3.amazonaws.com/arc-wordpress-client-uploads/adn/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/29233747/ChargingDoc_3an-18-00872cr_TAZRUK-Jeremy-1.pdf So all in all it was pretty legit defence. He was only using the sheath to defend himself but T.P. kept attacking regardless. Even armed with the knife T.P. was attacking him. |
