I was hoping for Owari 2 to be a one cour series that adapted Owarimonogatari's third volume and Zoku-Owarimonogatari. Hopefully this special is legally streamed for NA.

I don't really understand this 2-day special thing. Is it gonna be two long special TV episodes (like One Piece specials) or ist gonna be just one that airs on both of those days???

I can't say I'm not a little disappointed. Summer is looking even lighter
I guess I will have more time to play Grand Order so it's not all bad.

My hypothesis is that each story will be a long 60-80 minutes episode. 2 episodes could be aired in the 12th and the other episode on the 13th. I have no evidence for any of this; it is just my wild guess/prediction.

Monogatari continues to fascinate me with it's unorthodox adaptations. I was expecting this to be online only, but it's a 2 episode special instead.

At the very least Shaft's schedule seems more reasonable for them now

Well this is kind of disappointing, but oh well. I will eagerly await this either way.

I wasn't expecting this to be a whole 12-episode season, not just because it's only covering one novel (whereas the previous Owarimonogatari TV series covered two), but because it was clearly not going to premiere in July, given how long it took them to announce when exactly it would air. I guess we won't see Zoku Owarimonogatari until next year, after Shaft is done with the second season of March Comes in like a Lion.

I like Shaft and it's continuous anarchy considering Monogatari xD

Amen.
Also, from what I've heard, the amount of content in this third novel isn't that long, so a full cour would've either had to stretch like crazy, or come up with original content anyway.
Still, hopefully we get the next adaptation sometimes in 2018...

It's not, mostly it's a build up to the resolution without too much deviation. Honestly this is what I was hoping for, Tsukimonogatari was one of my fav arcs - not because that arc is all that interesting but because when it was done in the OVA format Shaft could just spend some time on it and make it look nice. I'd rather they do that than whatever they did with Owari.

Why do they use the logo "Owarimonogatari: Shinobu Mail" [<-- last arc that was already adapted] for that video? Simply a mistake?
I was wondering if that might just mean that the 2-day-special is a re-airing of that arc before they show the rest but the cast mentioned below does fit what comes next in the story it's clearly the cast for Mayoi Hell...
kinda weird but I guess it's either a mistake or some fan who did that overlay?
