It's too bad it's not KyoAni, but Xebec isn't on my list of "bad" studios. I'm pretty hyped for this.

4?
Are they skipping 3?
Probably would only watch this if Funi could manage to dub it with Luci Christian

Xebec is a much better choice for a mecha anime like this than KyoAni to be honest. The core staff worked on Yamato 2199 which looked fantastic and with Gatoh writing this is looking to be very good.
Overall very pleased. I am a bit scared by the prospect of the Very Merry Christmas audio drama and I hope they don't skip animating it.

Fumoffu is canon so they counted that.
@Calculus20 I can't fully disagree, but I still think KyoAni would've done a fantastic job.

KyoAni back then wasn't too shabby with the mech animation at all. The only bummer things we're losing is their slick yet brutal action sequences and their poignant, quiet moments like that haircut scene.
But hey when it comes to mech stuff, Xebec is quite competent. I just hope they don't go for cheap fanservice shots like what Gonzo did in S1 for Chidori.

I'm expecting more like the two main seasons (still need to watch the second now that I think about it...), which is great, but I wouldn't mind another Fumoffu season as that was hilarious.

I haven't read any information about the (light) novel, but i've read a scanlation of a manga spinoff titled FMP:Sigma, and its a darker and serious in tone regarding the events after TSR. Im not sure whether the original light novel retained the rom-com elements throughout the series.

The staff attached to the project seem promising, but I'll wait until a PV is out.

why do i feel like they going to fudge this up before they even start? really at this point i don't really care for the anime anymore. just give us all the full metal panic manga in english please... anime fucked up enough manga as is already. the reason i say this is cause, i don't think they can fit the rest of the story into a 24 ep arc. if they can make it a longer running anime, that does the original source justice go on ahead do it, but if they can't, let it rest in peace as just light novel/manga.

well iirc the haircut scene was from the light novel so we aren't really missing out on quieter moments by switching to Xebec. While i will miss kyoani's god tier animation i trust xebec especially after Fafner: Exodus.
