This doesn't sound good! It will be a real shame the one Project Itou title starring lead females ended being the dullest.

Wow quite a drop in comparison to Empire of Corpses, that wasn't hugely glowing praise but it was mostly well received. It seems strange for Studio 4°C to under deliver on animation, usually it is top notch.
I wonder how Genocidal Organ will do, that is the one I am looking forward to the most, based on the PV. But Manglobe went under and it changed studios, I don't know if that will cause any confusion. |

Wow, well that's unfortunate.... I still have tickets for next Tuesday, but that's not encouraging since my taste lines up with Nick often, and Empire of Corpses was definitely one of those cases. Michael Arias is an interesting director, but he always seems a little dispassionate with everything he's done. Not sure if this was a case of that as well, or if more of the blame goes with Takahashi(would be surprising, given his pedigree). I'm certainly not at all surprised that they used a lot of CG.

For me one of the best movies that came out recently and for sure worth the watch, for me it feels like the people that hate this movie are thoose that simply dont get it anyway the story is very good and the visuals and some scene are simply breathtaking. 9/10 score it would be 10/10 for me if it used a little less CG...

Oh boy... Wasn't expecting that! I can't say am totally surprised considering it's directed by Michael Arias, who cares more about the visuals than drama to the point where he destroys dramatic moments (the scene near the end of Tekkonkreet comes to mind). He's apparently doing same thing here according to the review. Here's hoping that Genocidal Organ is good (that at least has a good director)!

A least Empire of Corpse was eye-candy,
What a letdown with all the project Itoh adaptations, so far 2/3, 1 was pretty but what the hell is going on 1 was the characters are f*cking annoying and pretentious in their beliefs all the conclusions sucks man, I am hoping Genocidal Organ will be good. I've never read the books, but can someone tell if Project ITOH writing/plot is similar to the movies or better? |

noitaminA definitely seems to be going through a major identity crisis right now and it's resulting in a lot of really uneven material. I know they're trying to go for projects that are more commercially geared now but it also seems like it's still trying to hold on to it's whole "for serious adults looking for something more mature" identity as well and it's just not really working.

I wonder if Studio 4°C ended up with a situation where they couldn't give this their full effort? Money issues maybe? Mark Gosdin |

So they basically all talk like they're on Dawson's Creek?

I liked it. I don't think its possible to have a film about existentialism without the "cringy" script lamented in this review, it comes with the territory. I could write off adult characters sounding like their teenage selves in a world like this where everyone is likely to have a stunted maturity.
The characters just ask the usual questions for this subject matter. I enjoyed the quasi police procedural setup this movie had. The plot is wrote and predictable for sure but I found it an entertaining couple of hours myself. |

Well...at least I'm not the only one who found it kind of boring. Hopefully this time I won't be shoved off a thread by fanboy defenders and be told I have no taste.
Quite honestly I found the first third fantastic, but the rest just bored me. I just didn't feel the gravity of the situation, and for a film like this I think it could've benefitted from more trippy imagery rather than bland exposition. It's a movie; show don't tell. The problem is not in the source material. I see so much potential in this film, but sadly it didn't seem to be realised. I hope the novel's better; if there's an official translation I'm kinda interested. |

Hm...maybe I can request it at my local book store. It'll probably work out cheaper with Amazon's nightmare shipping to Australia. |

If it helps its also on the Kindle and iTunes books stores if you like downloading books (don't know if its available in your region). I prefer physical copies myself. Itoh is supposedly important in Japanese SF, so I've been curious about his work and am considering picking up a copy of Harmony. |

It's there. $10 and I've got a spare Itunes card lying around with $50 on it. Not like I use Itunes for anything else anyway. |
