I am genuinely surprised no Fairy Tail characters made the list. You literally have at least 80-90% of the female cast to choose from.

That does seem to be the case, but I suppose it's unavoidable since people would have to know about a show before being able to pick a character. Something like One Piece has a huge advantage in that regard. There was a poll for something a little while ago (swimsuits, maybe?) and I thought it was just about Love Live at first, until I got further down. |

Fujiko is too old for the people who take these polls and since the new Lupin series is not out until October in Japan it is not surprising.

I've always been a bit bemused about these polls. In most of them you'd assume that anime was only made available a decade ago. Anything older than that simply doesn't exist. |

Well, most of the respondents were also quite young. Any further back than 10 years or so would be before their time.
The women seem to prefer her over the men, which is interesting. |

since i saw one piece.. nami is not that busty.. comparing to the woman from the new show, prison school

I'd be happy it made the top 20 at all. High School DxD isn't exactly a show with wide appeal across ages and genders you know. And really, now can a character poll be anything but a "most well known series" contest? If you don't know the show then you won't know the character. Emerje |

I found it interesting that the #1 and #2 really only won because they are the characters that bridged the gender gap. Especially Nozomi who was 5th with both male and female voters, but none of the other 3 top 5 picks from male/female voters appear on the others top 5 at all.
That may be precisely why. I could see a pretty good split between the characters there. |
