This is indeed a surprising news to hear. Glad to see Kawamori is teaming up with a UK production.
Also I'm glad to see he's working with Thunderbirds, since that show itself was very influential on tokusatsu. |

That's not the Thunderbirds countdown. It sounds kinda like it. It looks kinda like it. But that's not it. It just isn't :'(

It's better than the LA movie. |

A CG Thunderbirds series? Wasn't the whole point of the original series it's puppetry? That sounds like converting the Muppets or Sesame Street to CG

It's not listed in his Encyclopedia entry, even though I've asked. But Kawamori is also consulted for the Bayformers movies.

I didn't even notice it until I saw the article but yeah, that plane is pure Kawamori.
Shame the show itself is so underwhelming. |

I was literally just thinking about Thuderbirds the other day. Neat that a new show is happening.

First Big Hero 6 and now this, I wonder if getting a Japanese mecha artist to design stuff for foreign projects will become a trend. Hopefully it'll be something that's actually interesting next time.

OMG, I can't believe someone is bringing this back, especially after Gerry Anderson died. Seems a bit of a gamble since it should be "new" to anybody under 50. I hope they share profits with the estate at least. And the new plane, while beautiful, is about as far from the original design aesthetic as one can get. If only they had done all new "cooler" designs...
