 Is this is another live-action video game based movie like in the same vein as Wreck-it Ralph?

Why is this getting so much press? It's an Adam Sandler movie, so why does anyone care anymore? The good films he rarely makes aside, I'd rather him go bankrupt and not have any more films than make one good one for every crap one..
Why do people keep reporting on this? Nobody cares! Seriously; both out of the three sites I've seen this on, all of them have negative regard in the comments... |

Isn't this the EXACT plot of that episode of Futurama where aliens (who just happen to be oldschool video game characters) are invading the planet, and Fry is tasked with fending them off with his arcade skills?

He'll go bankrupt when people stop watching his movies and when he spends his money in such a way as to run out. That he's still getting cast in a lot of stuff (albeit not as much as he used to) demonstrates the major studios believe he has enough star power to boost the box office numbers. |

and what does this have to do with anime? The short was a decent watch though but I don't see this working with that cast.

No, it a teaser FOR a trailer FOR a movie BASED on a funny two and a half-minute CGI short, fleshed out with the usual screenwriter plots and made...a lot longer than two and a half minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUnyUrA34bQ (No, seriously, Adam Sandler? Y'know, I recently saw a clip of Adam Sandler playing a super serious role in a drama (Reign Over Me, a 2007 film about a man who lost his family in 9/11), and he was fantastic, making me think he gets a bad rap because he's so often typecast in awful comedies. But then I think about how very awful those comedies are...

Those are the ones other directors USED to make, because they naively believed there was an intense actor underneath that "angry Jersey" persona waiting to break out and get respect. The rest of the comedies Sandler makes himself, so he can get big store chain product-placements to pay for his summer vacations with Drew Barrymore, and he can give work to his two rejected ex-SNL buddies. (That's why he's "still making films"--Because there's no one to stop him. If it was solely up to the other mainstream directors and producers, he'd have been out of work after "Spanglish".) |
