When I was reading this, I had a tough time getting through the parts that felt like a transcript of someone soloing an MMO, and those parts ever really ended up working for me, and really took away from the enjoyment of the book for me.

That said, I do like the world of the story, and plan to stick with the novels for a bit to see if the writing ever improves, and I'm also hoping that the anime suffers less from these problems.

Maybe it's just me, but this wording seems to suggest that there were/should have been multiple pages of glossy artwork that Yen Press left out? I haven't seen the books myself, but if they did, I'd be surprised: in my experience, Yen generally reproduces whatever colour art was in the original, so they can't be faulted for not including something that didn't exist.

(perhaps you meant those two sentences as separate thoughts, and not [fairly typical] = [not many colour pages]. in that case, sorry for my over-analysis ^^; )

Now that there's a review of the LN's first volume, when the anime starts in April, it will be nice to see how closely it follows the source material (for better or for worst)

Question here: is the world called Orararia or Oraria? It's spelled as "Orararia" in the summary at the top but spelled as "Oraria" at the beginning of the second paragraph in the review.

Yen Press's site says Orario, so I think that's how it should be and maybe it's just misspelled both times in the review.

The English title certainly can help give it a basic description on the show's premise.

Heck, it sounds it kind of describes SAO's premise: Being in a game world and having various girlfriends (Aptly enough, the Japanese Kirito is the lead guy in this upcoming anime).

I had seen that this was available and was considering it. I think I'll have to pick it up. It sounds interesting. (I actually like the idea of the shifting perspectives... But I'm odd like that.)
