This creepy stockholm syndrom rape bs is still going?
I like that modern BL manga is moving away from the ghastly stereotypes the genre is so plagued with, but I'm disappointed that it looks like this poster-child of everything wrong with the genre is continuing. |

I agree with this. I'm unhappy with this news. Ugh. Can't see why my fellow fujoshi would be interested. |

Well, I've been waiting for a conclusion to the story so I'm looking forward to this.
I find it interesting that both the writer & artist are males. I never would have guessed it by reading the manga alone. Especially since the artwork looks cute & frilly. |

can't agree more with this. I'm surprised this manga hasn't ended yet. The side story "Henshin Dekinai" is pretty good, but the main story itself is a big NO for me |

Blah blah I don't like someone else's kink blah so I'll act like someone's fantasy is a social ill and and try to make myself feel like I'm standing up for some cause and being brave by posting about it rather than realizing I'm complaining about someone's choice of porn. There's nothing wrong with women portraying any fantasy they want in manga, and you trying to kink shame them is your shame, not theirs. |

I'm not trying to kinkshame. I have the freedom to say when I find a piece of fiction morally reprehensible just as you have the freedom to like it. This is a story about a guy who repeatedly rapes a kid and it's framed as a romance. I read about 6 volumes of it out of bile fascination and then eventually couldn't take it anymore. It represents so, so many problems the BL genre as a whole has to the extent that the chapter summaries read like hyperbole from someone who hates BL. Honestly I dont care if you like it but don't try to act like I'm some prude for finding it distasteful. |

+1 championferret I watched the anime and ugh...If the smut/art were good, then I'd enjoy it a bit more but even those aspects were weak.
I'm glad stuff like Love Stage and Honto Yajuu are being made though. |

On the plus side the anime did result in one of my favourite snark-posts of all time: http://zarla.dreamwidth.org/294371.html

Great news! I love this manga and I'm really happy it's being continued. Yaoi lately has become so dull and boring it's great the classics are still going strong. No wonder though, Love Stage is a huge failure with how amazingly stupid it is and the seme being such a wimp. That is NOT what I want from my yaoi. Honto Yajuu is just a snorefest, I wonder why do some on the english internet always try to push that in front of others when there's nothing remotely good or interesting about it.

I thought the classics were like...The manga "Complex" or "Rutta to Kodama" instead. What makes this one better than the rest? And another question is do you find this type of relationship believable and realistic? |

Okane ga nai is wonderful, it's my fantasy fulfilled. I am submissive, but I am also a very jealous and possessive woman so I relate much more to the characters in Okane ga nai than those in the works you mention. Those you mention don't fit my interest and tbh I found the former not worth my attention the latter vapid and forgettable. None of the characters resonated with me or had any interesting and attractive qualities, unlike Kanou and Ayase, with emphasis on Kanou. That's why Okane ga nai is much better than the rest. @Mako
So, it's mostly a "it suits my taste" opinion. 'Kay. It doesn't necessarily make the other works "worse" lol. Some people actually read things not out of wanting to be excited/pleased but to just enjoy a good story with a more plausible relationship. But hey, both opinions are okay. I think the main point that ChampianFerret and I were making is that it's good that we're getting more fresh types of BL stories rather than fantasy or fetish-focused types. Feel free to enjoy what you like but diversity is always better than none. |

Oh? To cite championferret, I have the freedom to say when I find a piece of fiction trash not worth my money and my time. I don't care if you don't like it but don't try to act like I have a problem for finding it to my taste. I don't care what other people read, I care that I read a good story that I can enjoy in peace. How hypocritical to get suddenly defensive with "yay diversity!!" when this thread started by lamenting diversity in the first place and wishing for the genre to stop catering to other people's needs.
