Also, Gunkanjima was in the most recent James Bond film, Skyfall. Distant shots are the actual island, up-close are set reconstructions of actual sites on the island (because it's really not a safe place to have actors). It's a creepy-yet-beautiful place.

I thought I recognized that place somewhere, thanks for reminding me. |

Filmed on an island? Really? Okay, better limit those water shots. Afterall, oceans exist only in forbidden lore in the storyline. But alright. Bring it. I'm game.

Man, I really want to go to Gunkanjima but I heard that place is off limits. That place is totally rad, I want to see it up close.
I think they won't be really having a shoot in the actual place because it seems too dangerous (plus that place is listed as heritage site, so I wonder if the officials willing to let actors go and play there to promote the site - even with the risk of old buildings may collapse without any notice) |

My guess is it'll either just be footage without actors, or they'll take the Skyfall route and recreate parts of the island as sets. |

From what I heard the site is open only for journalist and for other ordinary visitor they'll probably just have a tour on ferry going around the island. But again that's what I heard years ago, so I guess they changed the policy. |
