Looks like a prequel focusing on Aioros. I'm all for more SS.

I've heard rumors that it'll be about the gold saints spoiler[after they died at the Wailing Wall.] Either way, I'm interested.

So is Seiya still all comatose after that last battle against Thanatos, or was it Hades? Was that ever resolved? Kind of a bummer ending. Wish they would resolve this rather doing all these prequels.

I honestly don't care what it is, more Saint Seiya Anime is always a good thing (yes, that includes Omega, I loved that shit). And one with the Gold Saints getting the spotlight? Can't wait to hear more news about this.

Saint Seiya: Next Dimension gave us the answer to that years ago (spoilers ahead):

spoiler[Seiya was in a coma after being stabbed in the chest by Hades' Sword. Seiya will die in 3 days if the Curse of Hades isn't broken. Athena went to Olympus to find a way to travel back in time to break Hades' Sword in the previous Holy War to prevent it from happening, but there have been complications. There's not much time left, and Athena must deal with having been turned into a kid by Chronos (well, a baby, but she aged herself up a bit recently), fighting a Holy War, and dealing with some traitorous Gold Saints, all while the Ophiuchus Gold Saint is coming.]

But yeah, can't wait for this anime to happen. I'm always down for more Saint Seiya.

Some pictures fom the Tamashii Nations event show spoiler[Aiolia wearing what appears to be the Leo God Cloth], so it seems this is set after the Hades arc after all. I'd be more excited about it if there weren't so many recent Saint Seiya projects focused on the Gold Saints already, but I'm very curious about the main staff. Judging by the poster, whoever's designing the characters is hewing very close to the old-school Araki/Himeno style.

When the new anime was rumored to happen a few days ago, it was said that the character designer was someone who worked on the B'tX anime. The source didn't say who though.

The two people who did character designs for the B't X TV anime were Hideyuki Motohashi (who returned on his own for the Neo OVA series) & Eisaku Inoue (who worked with Araki & Himeno for the character designs on Ring ni Kakero 1: Shadow). Considering that Motohashi tends to work with TMS more often than not, it might be Inoue (a traditionally Toei guy) who's doing the designs for Soul of Gold.

I wonder if they'll use the same cast from the Hades Chapter or re-cast them all ?

I personally prefer that they retain the cast.

Massive Cloths ? Tôei's crappy animators ? Poor animation detected.

I wish I could say you're being too pessimistic, but my experience watching Toriko, Saint Seiya Omega's second year, Marvel Disk Wars: Avengers and World Trigger tells me I should be worried. Even Sailor Moon Crystal, which Toei seems to be treating as a prestige project, is suffering from wonky artwork and animation every other episode. They're spreading themselves too thin, and their Philippines branch isn't doing a good job picking up their slack.

I have stopped watching japanese animation for years (except reboot/remake and prequel/sequel to the one I loved), and when I came back recently with new productions, I was shocked to see the huge difference of quality between Tôei and other studios, considering TV shows and even OVA and ONA.

I red that Tôei focused itself on making great movies, but I don"t think they produced much more than others. Ok, they probably wasted a lot of money with Captain Harlock and Legend of Sanctuary, but considering royalties they probably won with One Piece, Dragon Ball and Saint Seiya worldwide ties in...
