I'm sorry you had to watch this Carlo. It was obvious that this was a terrible series from when I read a few pages in a book store (because 1. It was terrible and 2. 'm no manga cow!)

wow... pretty harsh review, to tell you the truth my little brother and sister love this show, and sasami's magical girl club... maybe if there were kid reviews for these types of shows then maybe it'll have a higher rating... i mean it was obviously an adult who reviewed Save Me! Lollipop but still, that's like the same as an adult trying to review Hannah Montana or Spongebob... its gonna end up as the same result no matter what... its obviously meant as a kids show, and a kids show only, so the only way to review a kids show correctly, is to have kids review it. simple as that.

I had to wonder why Funi took the time to release this, much less dub it. I may be wrong, but this series had money loser written all over it.
One day on TRSI, the evil lord's deal of the day offered this to me for WELL under $2 an episode... and I bought it. (I made the exuse that I needed $15 for free shipping). After watching, my main preconceived notions about the series were validated, though there were two episodes that I actually enjoyed (the bodyswitch reffered to in the review, and the hotsprings) when I thought there would be none.
I have to give it a "Not as bad as I thought it would be" but also a "Give this to my 10 and 8 year old nieces as soon as possible so I can submit my shelf photos to Shelf Life"
The $1 to $1.5 per episode blind buy limit has netted me some good stuff in the past and this was not one, but it is certainly not the worst I done.

i just got this~ xD and i marathoned it yesterday.
I can understand very well why a show like this would get a bad review. But i like it any way xD; I'm just a shoujo / magical girl junkie~
I was just watching it for the Zero x Nina Moments anyway. xD

I don't know about that, I know plenty of adults who love Spongebob. Personally, I never really saw his appeal, and I was in 5th grade when the show started. I mean, yeah, it's better than anything else on Nickelodeon, but that isn't saying much.

That was just used as an example, because Spongebob is particularly aimed at children (however surprisingly I did not know that Spongebob is popular with adults) Still back to my original point, I think there needs to be a fairer judgment of the reviews placed here on ANN I mean sure one might think, "Hey Save Me! Lollipop looks really stupid, lolz ANN hates mahou shoujo lets see what they reviewed it as..." Well you would obviously review it badly as is, but still try to emphasis with some other types of audience members for these particular shows, not just adults.

And in Eastern cultures where arranged marriages are common.

Being made for children is not an excuse for a show to suck. Just look at Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Digimon, and of course the World Masterpiece Theatre. They are all anime made for kids, but even critical adult anime reviewers tend to enjoy them and give them strong reviews.

Reading the review, and seeing this, sheds a whole new light on the previews I've seen.
I've had this series on my watch list, and given the price, it's safe to say I won't be purchasing it for more than the $1-$2 range per single series disks.
Bummer. The series looked entertaining. I'll probably still get it at some point, but other titles just got moved ahead of it.
*eyes Kanon.

But still that depends on the type of adults that actually likes to watch these kinds of shows.

As a fan of the manga I would like to point out I was highly disappointed by the anime as well. Numerous parts were taken out and poor animation followed. It could have been well done like shugo-chara but some no name studio decided to pick it up.
The manga is enjoyable for a laugh and the part is pretty it isn't anything epic it is just shoujo fluff.
And swearing is in every anime even Pokemon, swearing isn't taken seriously like here.

I'll admit that I bought this & I liked it. I have no idea why I find it so charming, but I do. I can see how bad it is from an outside perspective & I can't even really recommend it to others, but god help me I enjoyed it. Some sort of comfort food, I guess.

Or in pre-modern Western cultures (someday we'll get rid of the East-West mantality). Although my understanding would be that in modern-day Japan this kind of thing is extremely rare, though you wouldn't guess it from anime, with everyone engaged by the time they're 15.
Also, just because something's aimed at children doesn't mean it should be allowed lenience if it sucks. Bad is bad. Haven't seen this series to know whether it is bad, but just on principle children's shows should not get a free pass.

Honestly speaking Carlo, I don't think they could have picked a better person to review the series. Why? Because I laughed pretty much all the way through and enjoyed your review. And thanks to your courageous efforts, I know not to watch this because it is not targeted at me. Thanks for the review!
