I figured something like this might happen. With all the money they are losing, it was only a matter of time before either they went chapter 7 or sold off the business and have the CEO of the business save what money he can.

However, since there no longer is any Borders any where near my residence, this news is indeed bad, but doesn't affect me because any Borders that was near my residence is now gone.

I will say this though, I feel bad for the people who are about to lose their jobs. Hopefully they are able to find new ones soon or at the very least be told ahead of time that the Borders may be selling it self off.

I couldn't quite grok the article. So, is Borders salable as a whole, or just bits and chunks of it? I are confus.

Honestly, for now at least, it's fair to say that Barns and Noble is doing (somewhat) financially fine. At least that is what I heard.

However, now and days, it's really hard to tell. Many thought Tokyo Pop was going to last longer than it did and they recently shut down the US portion of the company.

Anyone remember Geneon and ADV? With all the series both respective companies had licensed over the years and the success they had for a small period of time, I actually didn't think they would shut down as soon as they did.

Remember Broccoli Books? I think they shut down in 2009 (maybe earlier, later?) and I (among others no doubt) thought they were doing fine, given that they were still licensing manga.

So (at times) it's hard to tell which company will go out of business and what business will survive.

But if Barns And Noble goes out of business, then there truly will be less books available in paperback. But in the era of exceptionally easy access of internet and access to devices such as Kindles, Nooks and Ipads, paperback may become a obsolete form of reading material. Probably won't happen in my generation, but it might happen with the one below mine. But I truly don't if that is the case or not.

About time they all switch to fast food chain.

Borders: "We've noticed that people prefer a fat belly instead of a rich brain, thus..."

I don't like this. Borders, is like, my favorite store. I don't want to see it go, but I'm preparing for the worst. I hate to say this, but if Borders is shutting, I wish they'd just hurry up and get it over with.

And this is bad why? It doesn't say anything about B&N shutting down.

This sure as hell better not happen. Books have been around for centuries, they're practically ancient. There is no reason to get rid of them, that is so Neo-Nazi. There is nothing wrong with books. I don't give a damn if there are Nooks and Kindles, nothing beats holding a book in one's own hands. Again, there is nothing wrong with books, and anybody who thinks so is irrational.

I am confused, doesn't that just say they basically refinanced to a lower interest revolving line of credit, while at the same time extending the number of years on the note basically..... I mean they are bleeding slowly but not at the rate that they would go under any time in the near future....

Aye, so many other bad legacies to be passed down, let's put this one off a while longer.

Reminds me, still need to go see if that Borders by the office still has those volumes I was missing, before they too are liquidated or someone else find them.

There credit line is not being reduced, and there interest rate isn't going up. That means some one at least feels neutral about there future....

Also, they seems to be stemming the bleeding in the short run from what I have read at least. Hell some people at least seem hot on there stock. Hell there biggest brick and mortar competitor closing down shouldn't hurt either....
