Wow, I was just thinking of this movie. When will XRII (or some weird number) be released?

Patlabor WXIII? That was already released years ago.

$89.99 for a premium box? That's more then the premium boxes of LOTR. I think someone needs to tell them about reasonable price limits for premium boxes, especially on movies more than 10 years old.

All of them were released on DVD years ago. The first two were among the first DVDs released by Manga Entertainment. A lot of BVU's releases will be older titles.
BVU hasn't said anything about WXIII... Geneon may still have the rights, I'll check later today. -t |

I know that, but unlike Manga's sorry attempts, the release of WXIII was quite good and doesn't really need a re-release on DVD. Seriously, if you've only seen the Manga version, then you haven't seen Patlabor, so they don't really count in my book. |

Count or not I agree that this is still too expensive. The original is 10 years old and this is not a remake with state of the art animation, right? Region 1 is alittle more cost conscious than Region 2 imo. Do you think that a model inclusion has driven the price up?
Edit: I just checked TRSI. Please tell me that there is more to this than just storyboards and interviews that raised the price. |

It is not a remake (except for the 5.1 track) but in my opinion it still has state of the art animation. It may be over 15 years old, which may sound like a lot, but in terms of big-budget, traditional movie animation there hasn't happened that much in the last decade or so, so newer != better animation. (The Lion King is already pushing 12 years and I dare anyone say that it looks bad or old in any way.) And while I agree that $90 is far too much, if you look at it realistically it makes more sense. We're talking nearly 500 pages worth of translated, printed content. In comparison, the Samurai 7 LEs cost $50 each for a mediocre show, no making-of/extras disc, no interview/art book and no translations for the storyboards. But again, yeah, I'm pretty disappointed at the price and was hoping it'd be at least a little closer to the 50 mark. |

The old Manga Ent release contains non-anamorphic widescreen (the top and the bottom black bars are part of the video rather than created by the DVD player itself), plus only has 2.0 Japanese. These releases will contain proper anamophic, remastered video, with anew 5.1 mix (in both English and Japanese) which are re-recorded and re-scored. $90 is a bit too much, I agree (almost like they're still in japanese-collectors-market mode, but maybe this will change), but Im going to get the LE anyway because I'm a slut. |

It's not just a premium box. Did you actually read the description for the extra stuff that will be in the limited edition version? Really, they should be called regular edition and Ultra Patlabor Otaku Edition. |
